So what does it mean when I can say I think Lupe is a better rapper than Lil B but I favor Lil B more?

There is a difference between being a better rapper and enjoying someones music more. Lupe may tell better stories, rhyme more, flow better, etc but you can still enjoy Lil B's music more.

Yeah...So there is a difference...You said they're "pretty much the same thing".

If there's a difference between being a better rapper and enjoying someone's music more, then that means there is a difference in which rappers' music are the best and which rappers' music you favor most.

I agree that a rapper can be a better rapper in terms of skill, but I dont think you can say that a song is factually better than another song.
Saying something like "I enjoy Sing for the Moment more than Lose Yourself but I realize that Lose Yourself is a better song" makes no sense to me. Same thing with albums.

imo, an album can be better than another album based on the cohesiveness, structure, production, originality, lyrics, etc

No Copywrite, Dzk, Diabolic, Rhyme Aslum or Eminem? This isn't the class I know, loll.

Anyways this is very very hard to do, objectively speaking seeing as how I've been out of touch with Hip Hop for a long ass while and recently started delving back into the genre. In short making the first list as "objectively" speakng we'd have factor in things like impact and influence and possibly how well they aged, and I really don't care about that.

Nas-illmatic
Eminem-SSLP
Lil Ugly Mane-Mista Thug Isolation
Madvillain-Madvillainy
Mobb Deep The Infamous
The Roots-Game Theory
Wu Tang-Wu Forever
Kanye West-MBDTF
Black Milk-AOTY
Deltron 3030-Deltron 3030
Kendrick Lamar-Good Kid Maad City
Danny Brown-XXX
Ghostface Killah-Supreme Clientele
Lupe Fiasco-The Cool
Jay-Z-The Blueprint

Uhh I tried limiting it to one artist per album and some choices hard like GKMC and MTI seeing as how new they are, so I don't know if I'd still love them down the line. Also there's quite a few honorable mentions that I feel deserve it and I excluded instrumental only albums.

I really wanted to fit State of Lunacy and Cruise Control on there but there wasn't enough room.
