Kendrick's album was acclaimed, it did not dominate.

it did.

Kendrick didn't have a top 10 hit single but his album sold almost as much as Macklemore's, and it's still moving units as we speak. Like the artists, magazines, producers and people are saying, Macklemore only deserved to win Song Of The Year.

Kendrick's album dominated the minds of core hip-hop fans.

But were people talking about his music, songs and material in the same way they were "Thrift Shop" and "Same Love"... ? In the mainstream? Naaaaaaaah. That "Same Love" shit, whatever you think of it... was a bold thing to do. And I'm not saying Kendrick wasn't, but did he do anything as bold as that? Which caused that level of public conversation? Nope. Both would have been valid winners, and Macklemore was a valid winner.

It's clearly not a fucking white fest or all mainstream white rappers would have won by now... they haven't. Only two have in the past 10+ years = Eminem and Macklemore. TWO rappers? In comparison to how many white rappers there have been, even semi-underground ones who've made a dent... or people like Asher and Yelar... ? it's bullshit. Kendrick is an amazing rapper, but tough shit, it's clearly not fucking race.

It's fucking racist and unfair to Macklemore to claim it's racism, as if he didn't make a valid project, just because who most rap fans wanted to win, didn't. Black American rappers are just obsessed with claiming everything as racism.

What's the only two hip-hop albums ever which have ever won ALBUM OF THE YEAR Grammy? The mother of all Grammy's... ? Lauryn Hill's debut and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below by Outkast... the only two EVER. MMLP didn't even win it, and MMLP is a fucking masterpiece. So where's the racist chatter now? The only two rap albums in history to win the epitome of Grammy success are by black artists.

MMLP should have won Album of the Year more than either of those albums, it didn't. Not because of racism, just BECAUSE. Because it didn't. It goes both ways, clearly not race motivated.

Kanye has also won way more Grammy's than Em, LOL, who is THEE WHITE Rapper, and he has won in categories for his songs which Em never has, more acclaimed Grammy's which are more culturally significant and which shower more praise on elements broader than just rap terms.

/end of debate. Fucking idiots.

a rapper explained the selection process.

basically, ballots are sent to voting members of the association with the final nominees in all categories. The Grammy experts are allowed to vote for everything, even if they aren't familiar with the genre :facepalm

This is probably the first time the hip hop fans are pissed off that an album didn't win an award, that shit will be seen as the biggest robbery in the history of the grammys, or probably the second biggest after Tupac-All Eyez On Me

Only 2 rap albums have ever won Album of the Year. Both by black artists.

MMLP; arguably one of the greatest artistic masterpieces in mainstream rap history AND thee biggest commercial solo success in rap history, ever, by a white rapper: did not win it.

You can be pissed off that Kendrick didn't win, but just say it was a shitty decision. Kill the childish and irritating race noise, as that MMLP fact - and the fact only 2 white rappers now have ever won... fucking kills it. Nonsense.

(Lel, Jay-Z has even won more Grammy's than Eminem. /double dead.)
