Yeah he dumbed himself down so he could sell, but if faced with the same decision I can't say that I wouldn't have done the same. Eminem dumbed down his style. Nas' style just got dumb for a couple albums.

Nas made up his life story with all the guns and shit so he could sell records and appeal to the masses.

Naw I'd say that Nas is better than Jay-Z lyrically. But Jay-Z is obviously a better artist by FAR which is what you're saying Eagles.

Yeah only classics from Nas imo are Illmatic and Stillmatic. Maybe It Was Written, but probably not. As far as I see it Jay's sittin pretty with 4-5

Reasonable Doubt
Vol 2 Hard Knock Life
Blueprint
The Black Album

Had he been smart and made B2 one disc that'd be 5 and some like to argue that Vol 1 was a classic album, but I dunno, I'd call it great not classic. I'm hoping he takes it back to that classic shit with B3

Jay-Z is fucking dope. He got dope lyrics, dope beats, dope flow and hes an icon. He crossed borders with other genres and makes good music. Quality music, plus his shows are insane.

Hova one of the best to ever do it.

To be honest I don't really agree with you here. I think there are so many artists out there who talk so much street that it starts to become obvious what they have done and haven't. With Jay-Z I find it hard to believe him, if he was some drug dealer. If he was chasen by the cops but to me all of that actually doesn't matter cause it's him as an artist I really like.

I prefer Nas than Jay-Z by a little. As far as good albums go, it would go like this for me:

Illmatic
The Blueprint
Reasonable Doubt
Stillmatic
It Was Written
The Black Album
God's Son
Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life

Jay takes it to extremes. and by the way i made it clear that I like Jay, but these are some things that I DONT like about Jay.
The game DID need him and STILL needs him and that's without a question. Yeah Kingdom Come wasn't his best effort and we didn't need that, but please don't act like the game didn't need some real hip hop heads to show what the game was SUPPOSED to be like. Just like we wanted Em to do.

No, the game didnt and still doesnt need him. The game doesn't really need anyone in particular, just alot of dope MCs. And there's without question a lot of dudes doper than Jay nowadays

Yeah he dumbed himself down so he could sell, but if faced with the same decision I can't say that I wouldn't have done the same. Eminem dumbed down his tyle. Nas' style just got dumb for a couple albums.

Yes. Em dumbed down his style, nas got wack for a while but he never tried appealing to the mainsteam (and if he did then he just did a terrible job of that). But with Jay, he makes records like 'Swagger Like Us' and hearing it from him just sounds dumb to me, and i wish he didnt do that shit. But hey thats me, and its an opinion just like yours

Nas made up his life story with all the guns and shit so he could sell records and appeal to the masses.
Does that have anything to do with Rapping? No. So what does that have to do with me saying Nas is better than Jay?

And by the way I hope Blueprint 3 is a classic, I don't dislike Jay I just wish he didnt do some of the shit that he does.

Your forgetting It was Written, which to me is a better album than all of Jay's with the exception of Reasonable Doubt and Blueprint (maybe). Plus, 'Untitled' was a near-classic to me, and better than Hip Hop Is Dead.

@ Brandon- I understand what you're saying. I'm just stating that the things you dislike about Jay are common practice in rap. And Nas being a fraud has a lot to do with rap for me because I like hearing people talk about shit they didn't make up in their bedrooms.

Nas is a better rapper, yet somehow Jay makes better music. Testament to Jay's dopeness.
