Kanye underrated? Hardly..

He's considered a top 10 rapper out there right now and sometimes of all time by most people..

He definitely has flashes of brilliance, but probably 50% of his tracks I've listened to are like Young Jeezy level lyrics with beats that aren't even as good.. That's like having Encore performed exactly the same way, but by Waka Flocka.. Plus he's got a ridiculous ego for someone who honestly, I could do without hearing.

Even in tracks where he shows some ability, there's always some lame ass bullshit lines that a third grader would point and laugh at. Example: "Can't Tell Me Nothin" -- Just listen and I know you'll find some.
(The worst is easily when he says: "You 'gon end up apologin'.." --Forgot a syllable or so in there buddy.)

The line you posted is good I guess.. Nothing thread-worthy though.
In all though, I think Kanye is easily one of the top 10 or maybe 5 most overrated rappers of all time, but worth an occasional listen.

Like he's the only rapper to ever do such a thing...

That's literally the only line I've ever heard that contained a word that was that fucked up in order to rhyme.. either that or the only noticeable one. It doesn't help that he paused right after and emphasizes the shit. It'd be better to just make up a word than try that shit.. At least then he'd have an excuse.

Edit: Plus it's not like that's his only bad line.

Edit: heres a vid of Consequence saying he "helped" to write four songs from 808s: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nElryNZz ... _embedded#!

BTW, I Wonder is a great song and thats probably my favorite quote from it :y:

Yes it is a well-known fact that Rhymefest co-wrote that song. He even won a Grammy for it.

But it's not a well-known fact Kanye has ghost-writers in general. In reality a lot of writers have help they just don't credit people as it's usually just the odd word or line. Which I think is fair.

For example Kanye has helped a lot of rappers who have never credited him, guys he's produced for. He said he would help them word things better etc. and then when he started rapping he thought fuck that.

That's right, I mean in a a lot of rap groups (especially Wu Tang) one member will give another member a few lines/a verse and vice versa - I've got no problem with that, and I'd say that's the case with Kanye and his outside writers, like I highly doubt he'd get full songs wrote for him on a regular basis.

And yes that is true - Kanye produced a lot of tracks in the late 90's that he didn't get credited with - I think he actually made the beat for Stir Crazy
