Lil Wayne has great lyrics.......in the WITTY sense. Nobody uses humor as well as he does. He makes a shitload of interesting and witty references that most people don't catch. Basically, nobody executes his style of rap better than he does. He's not lyrically deep, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have cool lyrics.

People have to understand something

Hip-hop = music. Music = form of entertainment

What does Wayne do best? He entertains people. Which is the primary function of music. He brings a unique presence and swag on his songs. This is an intangible that seperates him from a lot of boring, generic rappers. It's not just WHAT he says, but it's HOW he says it.

For example, Joe Budden is a far better storyteller than Wayne, but he has no swag and a very monotonous flow/delivery. But I still enjoy both, for different reasons.

See, what makes Wayne great is his versatility, the fact that he can execute so many styles of rap. What he sounded like back in 2000 is different than 2005 which is different than 2009. He's got a million flows
