Drake is a better lyricist than BOB.. He's very versatile, he knows when to dumb it down(shitty punchlines), but also shines as well (like any writer).
Note: Just because a rapper makes songs for the ladies, doesn't make him bad. Drake has an understanding of how the game works, and he know he needs to stay hot consistently so he can be around for the long haul.
Even though he defines what a mainstream artist is, I still think he's way above average as a lyricist, especially for the mainstream ("And my shirt was soaking wet, my mom's only 5'2")
"Nothing On You" was a "Best I Ever Had" rip-off. Manufactured garbage to sell. All of BOBS main singles were driven by other artists (Em, Hayley, Rivers, and Bruno)
As far as voices go; Some say Drake is bland, but BOB's voice is downright annoying to me.
Both of their albums are mainstream to the max, but I feel TML had a richer sound, although slightly less creative. TML did fall short because I think Drake is still young and very influenced by his peers. He had too many features(he said he won't on the 2nd album).
With all that said; Drake has been co-signed by Nas, Jay-Z and Eminem... And basically every other rapper. I don't think he cares what WE think, but still a good discussion I think.
One last thing: I think because BOB mixes genres, I think people tend to favor him for that fact, and not the music. Like "Oh look he's so different, he's amazing!"... eh
Like how is Drake a knock-off R&B singer, and BOB isn't? It's not like BOB has rock music that's on any classic rock caliber (he is no Zeppelin, Oasis, Nirvana, etc...)
