He doesn’t bite full verses but he still does bite lines and he uses melodies and uses hooks over.

I can do more…

On the Slim Shady LP he bit Jay's pattern on like every song. On 'Forgot About Dre' he took
Jay's pattern from "Can I Get A' he even wrote “Forgot About Dre’ to that beat.

Yeah you've done nothing but re-confirm what I already said.

I think if you look back you'll see I said Em re-writes things like hooks and melodies to pay homage. It's always a re-write though, mimicking the original lyricism but tailored to him (obvious homage).

That's totally different to what Jay does which is = Bite lines word for word as if they're his.

But anyway, what the fuck does this have to do with the topic anyway. Supposedly Eminem fans are the Stans yet Jay supporters are the ones bringing him up? This topic is called 'JAY-Z: BITER NOT A WRITER'. There's no Eminem in that title.

So stop diverting the attention, it wouldn't matter if Eminem had bitten his entire firs two albums. We're talking about JAY FUCKING Z. Not Eminem. That's like trying to get off murder by saying "oh well... Look how many Ted Bundy killed". "You're right... It's fine". I think not.

@Relapse LP - Man you're fucking lame.

I'll say again, me hating Jay-Z does not make me a Stan you fucking fool. I don't dress, walk, talk or act like Eminem. I just listen to his music. Amongst many other rap and rock artists.

I wasn't the one who brought Eminem into the conversation, it was you or some other turd, trying to justify Jay's biting by playing the childish "oh he does too" card. As if that matters or is relevant.

Try being a little more original. You know, an individual. You fucking sheep. Go bite a bullet. Okay then, bye bye now.

@ Eminembase, you´re hating on Jay-Z for biting other peoples lines while you´re defending the fact that Eminem does EXACTLY the same thing, which is really hypocritical.

FYI sampling has been a big part of Hip-Hop since it´s beginning, and the whole genre was built on re-writing and re-using melodies, hooks etc.

Adam Quinn wrote:Yeah right. He takes people shit and switches the words around to pay homage... Come on, man. That's worse than Jay saying somebody's shit line for line. WE ALL KNOW when Jay does a B.I.G verse. We all know it’s a B.I.G. verse, but when Em digs deep into a crate he found in the back of some record store and copies the melody to a song that no Hip Hop fan even knew existed you call it paying homage. Get the fuck out of here with your swizz cheese argument based only by opinions and no facts. GO HARDER.

No that's bullshit. Em re-writes very obvious and well known things, even if not to YOU, they are to other people.

For example, on "The Way I Am" - The chorus is a re-working of a Rakim song. Now to any hip-hop or Rakim fan, that's totally obvious. But it's also different. It's a re-working of the original lyrics, keeping the same melody to pay a very obvious homage.

That's entirely different to what Jay-Z does. Which is steals Biggie's rhymes and tries to blend them in as if they're his own. The fact he's biting them is given away by the fact he often steals lines from very obscure, ungerground Biggie freestyles as if nobody will notice. But then when he's caught, because it's Biggie, he can say "aw come on man, I'm just paying Big respect".

You can fall for that bullshit all you like. Em's are obvious re-writes. More examples of this are "Can-I-Bitch" - An almost duplicate re-write of Slick Rick's "Children's Story". It's a comical and clever homage and Em tailors it to the Canibus situation and his own style.

He also does it with 2Pac's "Hit Em Up". Even using the same fucking beat. I'd say that's a pretty obvious homage that you're meant to realize. Totally different to stealing lines and trying to blend them in with your own verse. Idiot.

@Anim, firstly - I've defined in previous posts and now this one why what Eminem does is NOT exactly the same thing. It's not even close.

Secondly, even if Eminem did do the same thing (which he doesn't) WTF does that have to do with what Jay-Z does? This is a post on Jay-Z not Eminem. You lot are the Stans as you feel the need to bring Eminem into every post. You brought him up, NOT ME.

It doesn't justify Jay doing it no matter who else does it. Two different topics.

Every artist bites, whether production or lyric wise, Jay-Z just doesn't bite from lesser known artists, get the fuck over it, We don't give a fuck if you dont like him. Don't listen. He's a legend to people that matter more than you in the music industry, including your christ himself, Eminem, that's undisputable.

The only reason I brought up Eminem is because you are hating on Jay-Z for doing the same thing Eminem is doing (which you are defending) I wasn´t the one bringing up Eminem in the first place anyways. And yes it´s basically the same damn thing, as someone has allready said the only reason Eminem doesn´t get blamed by people like you for "biting", is because the people he´s "paying homage" to is lesser known and people doesn´t recognice the "stealing".

And I´ll say it again it´s called sampling.

I didn't bring up Eminem. Some other turd did, I didn't mention Eminem once. But in every post here people feel the need to bring him up regardless. What Eminem does isn't relative to what Jay-Z does. This post is on Jay-Z, not Eminem.

And no, it's not the same thing. Eminem RE-WRITES OBVIOUS rhymes / concepts. Jay-Z STEALS EXACT Biggie lines and pretends they're his. Also unlike Eminem, it's not here and there, Jay-Z does it every album. Even on BP3 stealing lines from an underground Biggie freestyle. TOTALLY different.
