rap/mainstream groupies automatically say 2pac is the "best rapper ever" but if they actually listen, the Notorious B.I.G. is waaaaayyyy better.

I will have to go with Biggie also, he had everything an MC should have... and he would slay anyone lyrically today if he's still alive... although couple of people might give him problems... but yeah, you get the point...

I gotta go with 2pac because he had more soul then Biggie I mean Biggie might be a better lyricist then 2pac but 2pac wrote deeper music then Biggie I mean 2pacs music had alot of emotional feel to it and I relate to him more then I relate to Biggie

2Pac: he touched on way more subjects than BIG did and almost ne1 can relate to 'Pac.
"Did you ever stop to think/I'm old enough to go to war but I ain't old enough to drink" - 2Pac

"It's time to let the truth be told/There ain't no brighter day/'Cause when it all unfolds/A n**** gon' just pass away/These haters tryna stop my grind/But I bet them hoes can't block my shine/So tired of takin' losses not this time/I can't save the whole world I'm just tryna look out for mine" - Z-Ro

To me hip-hop ain't about the lyrics it's about being able to relate to the artist and Dope ovisouly relates to Eazy more then Biggie yo it's no dout that Biggie's got some dope lyrics but what good are dope lyrics if u can't relate to them. Tupac rapped about the hardships of life nothing can beat song like "Brenda's Got A Baby", "Broken Wings", "Changes", "Shed So Many Tears", "When Thugs Cry", "Unconditional Love" (which happen's to be my favorite song of all time), "Keep Ya Head Up" etc.. theres too many deep 2Pac songs to name but in my opinion nothing can beat Tupac's deep and meaningful song not even any Eminem song that ever been put out and I like Eminem more then Tupac. For me it's like this if I can't relate to the artist then I don't listen to them.

thats exactly why u cant compare them.

rap is not only about relating, is mc'ing... mc'ing is lyrics.

Just coz tupac always raps about heartfelt shit doesnt make him the best, it makes him a notable and influential artist, poet. Poets dont compete.

MC's however ... DO compete and lyrics and complex shit is what they are mostly about.

like someone said previously, neither can be beat at there own thing, though i personally think BIG was lyrically & Skillfully better.

well ur right Tupac deffenitaly isn't the best emcee I've heard emcee's that were way more lyrically skilled then he is but he's the most spiritual rapper I've ever heard and that's what draw me to him I mean don't get me wrong lyrics are a big part of it too. I won't listen to a rapper if the lyrics totally suck I mean the lyrics gotta be at least half way decient in order to grab my attention.

2pac - more of an average rapper that apears to a wider audience that at times doesnt really understand complexity in rhyme.

To me - rap is lyrical skill therefore Biggie is my prefered choice.

word, i think biggie is better
