Each song Kanye raps in it except for Guilt & Blood, so I don't know how this is electronic pop to you. "A few elements of hip hop" (except for all the songs being rapped bar 2 and the fact that the electronic-esque production is structured as a hip hop beat). It isn't traditional hip hop of course, this is industrial hip hop. See: Death Grips.

That's why I think people are saying it has "saved hip hop", it has given it a new direction.
I don't think it has given hip-hop a new direction though...
Punk has been infused in to rap before, so has dancehall, rock and every other kind of musical influence on there... this does it bigger and bolder I guess but... it's too random to be a new direction.
And there's certainly no new direction lyrically, conceptually or anything else.
The one vibe I do hope Kanye inspires is minimalism. As I'm all down for that. Stripped down music done really well always sounds better than loud, epic, ott music to me... The Beatles are a prime example of that; but the thing is... Kanye keeps talking about how minimalist this album is, but the production sounds pretty packed to me. I'd hardly call it minimalist.
I mean, it is in spots... it's kind of clear-cut and sharp, like "New Slaves"... but then in other spots it's kind of just as manic and packed as usual.
But I'm definitely for more stripped down and direct production, as this modern-era of overproduction is annoying my ears. So few albums seem to have their own cohesive sound anymore, they all just sound like clusterfucks of noise and cheap digital drums.

Looks like a great movie too.

That movie is awesome, and the scene is classic.
And it was a great idea to do a take-off of the scene for this, works perfect...
But, yeah, WOW, that is some of the worst acting I've ever seen...
It seems so bad that maybe it's intentionally like that. It's the kind of thing Kanye would do - make it intentionally hacky OTT acting just to fuck with you... but then some bits are too much of an attempted close-to-home take-off. So if it that really is his best acting... wow, he should never act.
Also lmao @ compared to Walt Disney and Steve Jobs, yeah... by himself.
Lol. I'll take my L.EminemBase wrote:That's "Black Skinheads" fam.
So it's actually all good.EminemBase wrote:There doesn't feel like this clear definition between the songs like usual.
Leo has been one of the most consistent and badass actors of the past decade... the streak of amazing films he's had is hard to match. The fact he doesn't have an Oscar is absurd... I'm not even sure if he's had a nomination!... weird complete snub given how good he is.
