yeah it went from 28 to 21

and mbdtf went from 10 to 9

but it's just a list and I don't care, I just don't see why you would be mad at people who consider an album (MBDTF) as one of the greatest albums, nahmean ? it's not like it was an unpopular opinion... sure it's stupid to praise an album because it's the cool thing to do but some albums have been praised since the very first day of its release. People were calling mbdtf a goat album way before the first review came out :coffee:

I have nothing against someone like eedee who wants to understand what people see in this album but talking shit about people who praise something that you don't like... :shakehead:

- But I did. I said The SSLP, by the very definition of the word, is a more fantastical album, I also mentioned Relapse, and Rick Ross' Port of Miami, which had everybody I know thinking Rozay was a drug dealer on the scale of Scarface. Now THAT is a flight of fancy.
- I've got close to genius level I.Q, I can substantiate to any level I want.
-If you listened to Illmatic and the first thing that leapt out at you was the production, then we might have a bit of a problem.
-The Kanye is future Jay thing is something that is so absurd, it's not worth my time. It sounds like something a lonely Kanye Stan made up while counting the cracks in his ceiling.
-Eminem, at his worst, is more self aware than Kanye at his best. If you think all the Kanye rants and running into poles and general impulsiveness are just one elaborate publicity stunt, then I'm a Nigerian prince with my assets trapped abroad, help me claim it and we'll share.
@KingLance
I made the HHDX thread, I didnt say people > critics though I believe the idea has merit. I also think KTT, for the most part, is like the Sodom and Gomorrah of group-think and imbecility i.e it should be killed with fire.
I meant actual writers, authors with actual books.

I think we're just about done here, also lots of people cite the production in illmatic just as much or equal to the rapping....

the production is a valid argument IMO. music is totally relative and subjective at the end of the day so can you please tell me what makes an album like The Chronic a good album ? the rapping ? the lyrics ? aren't we praising the chronic for it's production ?

it's the same shit for kanye. look at College Dropout, 808,Late Registration...these albums pretty much confirmed that kanye was one of the most influential artists (in any genre) of the 2000s. Just like when Dr. Dre released The Chronic in the 92' and other cats followed his brand of G Funk or idea of sampling Funk songs, Kanye birthed a whole new style of music, he birthed a lot of artists.. kid cudi, drake, Future, and a ton of other rappers.

If music is as subjective as you say, then why do you and damn near every Kanye stan I know, place so much importance on year end lists?
First it was sales that was the determining factor when Kanye beat 50 cent, now it's critical acclaim when Yeezus is struggling to go Gold.
Also, Flockaveli had as much, or even more of an influence on the culture than 808's but I don't see anybody calling Waka Flocka a creative genius.
Also, make a list of the albums that dropped after 808's and count the ones influenced by Kanye's sound. (Please don't think Kanye invented or even was directly responsible for the popularity of Autotune).

I'm not a huge kanye fan, just a fan of some of his albums :shifty:

1) I shouldn't have said that it was subjective... yeah the feeling about music is subjective but some things aren't IMO (ie; the impact, its complexity, the structure of an album, the lyrics,..)
2) why shouldn't we post year end lists ? they can generate good discussions. didn't you post one of these lists yesterday ?
3) Yeah sales was a determining factor when kanye beat 50 because kanye is basically one of the reasons why Gangsta rap ain't popular anymore. In that case, sales proved that people wanted something new, something that kanye brought to the table.
4) Flockavali is considered as a classic album my many people.
5) you should read some interviews (future, drake, cudi,...) a lot of rappers said that they were influenced by 808.

Nope, the sales proved that people didn't want 50 CENT anymore, it's like saying people stopped using autotune 'cos Jay Z made D.O.A.
Correlation doesn't imply causation.
And it proved that people wanted something new all right, just not exclusively what Kanye was offering, Graduation went platinum, Tha Carter 3 went platinum IN A WEEK, so you could say Wayne triggered more of a culture change than Kanye.

Wayne influenced a few new rappers (flows & cadence) but kanye influenced a lot of albums (the sound, the structure,...)
If you don't see the difference before & after kanye released his first albums then I don't know what to tell you..

"Kanye introduced
something that was never, ever, ever
done before"
Are you talking about 808's?
"ofc you're too dense to see it"
I have been very restrained and civil thus far, you should know by now how I can be.

The simplicity of Illmatic's beats propel the album, the production on Illmatic is amazing.

MBDTF has complex production, lots of effects and samples and whatnot, but it's executed properly unlike Yeezus for example where it sounds thrown together and meshed up pretentiously, just so Kanye can feel better about himself.

"what? have i ever had a real
conversation with you before?"
I dimly remember you saying a lot of idiotic stuff in the Eminem section which I responded to by sonning you quite thoroughly.
I may be mistaking you for some other retard though.
...
I still haven't heard one credible reason why TF should be among the top 100 greatest albums of all time though, all I hear are repititions of "if you can't see it, you're too dense" and "it had dope production".
As Revolutionary said, this is boring.
