I remember me and Solace talking about him on here. I didn't like all of his music but this guy pretty much got me into watching battles, won Scribble Jam in 1999, and roasted this fucker with the first flip I ever appreciated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_qMbzfF31k .

I never liked him as much as Slug but he was true to hip-hop. He never made a million dollars. He never got a mansion or a Hummer out of doing it. He just made music and made a decent living off of it. With this said his passing really won't affect many people. Only the one's who've followed the Rhymesayers or Underground rap will even care about this. It's sad though. If he OD'd that's just going to be more weight to bear. God forbid a rapper who did nothing but contribute to the art be seen as another hip-hop statistic for drug use.

[Solace]

I can relate to pretty much everything you've said in there, 'cept I've always enjoyed Eyedea's music more than Slug (purely because I rarely listen to him, but he is great). It's still sort of hard to believe that he died due to it being so out of the blue. Regardless, his soul will live through his art form I suppose.
