My problem with J.Cole

Don't get me wrong, he is DOPE
But, recently it seems he can only deliver a DOPE verse, not a solid dope song. Anyone agree?
It's sorta like Celph Tittled, he can RIP a verse but not 3 verses in one song.
This is how I felt about Friday Night Lights.

Why is Joe Budden a good example.. Almost everything he released was on his Mixtape. J. Cole hasn't released anything from his debut album. The fact that he is just delivering verses is because he's keeping his songs for his debut album. He hasn't released anything from that project to hook us onto. Joe Budden did release material from his project.

I agree with Zu. From what I've heard he has a lot of concept tracks that he thinks are too good for a mixtape so he's holding onto them. I would agree that he needs to step his hook game up though. He has some great ones like Lights Please and I Get Up but he also has a lot of wack ones.

Overall I think he'll be fine. He'll grow as a rapper as time goes on.

Another great thing about J Cole he produces a lot of his tracks and his beats are dope. I think his album will be about 60% produced by him and I know NO I.D done a few tracks on there. He done one with Pharrell but I dont think it will make the album he said in an interview. He recently worked with Dr Dre so I dont know what that's for though.
