Rhyme Asylum are in another stratosphere

Postby MikeNUFC » Jan 23rd, '11, 14:31

Just listening to State Of Lunancy for the first time in a while and it's just unreal how good that album is. It must have taken them so fucking long to craft every verse on there - there's barely a bad line on the whole fucking album, and pretty much every line is a quotable. It's unbelievable.

I know everyone goes on about Poison Penmanship, but I firmly believe Iller Instinct and Lost are the best two songs on the album.

Although Solitary Confinement wasn't as good, it's not as bad as I've made out before, just couldn't match the brilliance of their debut.

And it seems like they've made a punchline out of every single phrase ever invented?! They're gunna have to start making up phrases soon!

I agree with you Kez, Possessed is the best rapper ever.

Rhyme Asylum is just too insane. Yeah the punchlines might not of been as good on the second album but they improved in other aspects id say. both are very very impressive albums both offering some shocking 'holy fuck' moments when you hear the lyrics.

We sound like some real RA Stans in this bitch :p
It is true though

And in regards to Solitary Confinement, i dunno i still think it's a pretty fucking good album. Maybe not by their standards, but compare it to pretty much anything else out in the UK (with the exception of maybe Lowkey) and it's still pretty high up there.

With Solitary Confinement, it was cool they stepped out of their comfort zoneand went for some conceptual tracks. It would have been easy* to make a State Of Lunancy Pt. II, so to speak.

Life Support is great. The N Word was shitty, though.

*when I say easy, I don't mean SOL was easy to make, I mean that that would have been the easiest option in terms of a second album.

i think solitary confinement has better replay value. i still bump that shit every day. ' As i nap my Z's are rotated 90 degrees' < awesome punchline.

The whole song is called 'N' word. if you turn Z sideways (90degrees) it becomes 'N'

I'm gonna have to agree with Steven. SC has more replay value for me, well not really, I just think the overall beats are better. I had Poison Penmanship on repeat for 2 hours. Try to beat that!
