What year did Nas write this?

It was on the 'Illmatic' 10 Year Anniversary Edition, so it seems like he recorded it in maybe 2003/2004, but the lyricism and rhyme schemes feel like it's straight out of 'Illmatic'

So were they old lyrics that he never recorded, and he recorded it for the Anniversary Edition?

He says "That verse is 10 years old, 9½ years old" during the chorus....but then he says "I'm 30 now."

So what's the deal?

Amazing, track btw.
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Well, I guess it's an unreleased verse from '94.

2nd verse also seems to be from that era IMO.

Dope song BTW.
...The mortician of love, sent from above
Forced entry, the more wenchy, the more stingy I become
Been doing this for more than a quarter century, I'm just numb...
