Best closing song to an album?

Postby classthe_king » Feb 3rd, '11, 03:02

I'd say without a doubt The Exception to Everything

It's the perfect song just summarizing his life. Expecially the last verse which not only perfect sums up the album, but his life as well.

Even though I've never called it perfect
When I die, I want to know it all was worth it
I want to know that I tried my best with
Embracing every moment that I was blessed with
Every life, every death, every time that I wept
Every moment, every person, every line that I said
Every night, every day, every time every place
Every kiss, every wish, every side of the maze
Every cut, every bruise, every love that I'd lose
Every time that I broke and the times that I grew
Every drop of rain that these clouds would spew
To help form the man that I amounted to
And I'm thankful, that I am who I am
And I've been where I've been and I came out grateful
When it's finally time to make an exit
Just know, that I don't regret a single second
You think your personal attacks make up for what you lack?

Not the best, but my personal favorite is Apostle's Warning on Hell on Earth.

The last few lines are killer, but the whole verse is great.

I send a message to my whole clique to bomb shit
Atomic, no time for calm shit
We hyperactive and it's time for Vietnam bit
Ya whole alliance gets single handedly bomb-ded
Take heed to the apostle's warning

The whole verse is long as fuck, and I'm not posting the whole thing so whatever.

Castle Walls on No Mercy.
Something's Wrong With Him on Death Is Certain.
Black President on Untitled.
All I Need on Tical.
Lost In The World/Who Will Survive In America on MBDTF.
Pillow Man on RAW.
My Dad's Gone Crazy on TES.
Good Die Young on D12 World.
Tic Toc on Life & Times Of Peter Nelson.

Out of those my #1 would have to be Black President on Untitled.

I'm not asking what is the best song that just happens to close an album I'm talking about the song that closes the album in the best way.

J Cole - Farewell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6z6slopv3U

This is one of my favorite Cole tracks. It touches on how he feels he will be viewed by history, along with reflecting on his childhood. It really wrapped up the tape well for me and got across what he was all about.

think back to when we tore the skating rink up
rapping and we scrapping, we got older hit the teen club
gave mean mugs to n-ggas but we winked at all the girls
then we went back to the crib thinking we had saw the World
no way, came a long way from having mom chauffer
its hard to think these hoes at some point were so pure
but now we play the game, when its over send me back
I swear I’m not gon change a thing
I swear I’m not gon change a thing

Trapped In My Mind by Kid Cudi, from Man On The Moon II, is one of my favorite closing songs

Came back to annihilate, the game's in dire straights, as I await
Word on Satan, as I drop, fall to my knees before this Quija board and I pray
Now I lay me down to sleep
I do this shit in my sleep, I’m sleepin' now, imagine if I awake

damn good thread, in terms of closing an album as you stated the meaning to be, i might have to say criminal on mmlp, just because it summed up that whole album perfectly, was def a combination of the tracks on there and all the content. but thats just cause ive listened to most em albums much more closely than others and know that it fits, if i think of a non-em one ill be sure to post it :y:
