Jim Jones - Capo

Okay, gotta admit, didn't buy this one (obviously), but copped the leak. I'll definitely buy the Dipset record, and have bought enough Jimmy and Dipset albums in the past, so fall back Jimmy.

No one says Jimmy is the best rapper out there, but his style of half unapologetic brags and half introspective thoughts always makes for good tunnel banging music, and he's been doing that in New York for years. So I expect a lot of entertainment here, and some emotion.

"Intro" (feat. Sen City & Chink Santana) - 2.5/5 - Sen City sounds horrible. Jimmy's voice sounds forced. Poor start. Cool beat though.

Deep Blue" (feat. Chink Santana) - 3.5/5 - Likin this. This ain't Big L Harlem music, anyone who expects that from Dipset now is gonna be disappointment. But this is smooth Harlem music, the Dipset way.

Carton of Milk" (feat. Game & Sen City) - 3/5 - Man, the hook starts the track great, but what's with Jimmy's delivery again? Game saves the track with his bouncy verse.

The Paper" (feat. Chink Santana) - 1/5 - Instant delete. I hate this Jimmy, he has a few of these songs every album, and this is why he can never take the next step up. Trash wannabe club banger music. This is South music.

Heart Attack" (feat. Sen City) - 3.5/5 - There we go. That's better, even when you try and make fun music, stay in your own lane and not conform. Jimmy's dirty style is always fun.

Everybody Jones" (feat. Aaron LaCrate) - 1/5 - Look at "The Paper". Garbage.

Drops is Out" (feat. Raekwon, Mel Matrix, & Sen City) - 4/5 - Dope. First great track of the album. Raekwon sounds fucking POWERFUL. Beat suits him perfectly. Jimmy does well too, skillful. This is 100% genuine New York tunnel music.

Let Me Fly" (feat. Rell) - 3.5/5 Just the name of the track distracted me and made me think of the CLASSIC DMX song with the same title. Anyway, I like Rell, his hooks are always dope to me. Smooth as hell.

Getting to the Money" (feat. Cam’ron & Lady H) - 3/5. Okay, gotta admit, gotta a few goosebumps listening to Jimmy and Cam on the same track again. Song is okay, I think it will grow on me. Hook is atrocious.

Take a Bow" (feat. Lloyd Banks & Prodigy) - 4/5 - Okay here we go, the most anticipated track of the album. The first Dipset and G-Unit track was a classic (Beamer, Benz or Bentley) so the streets is expecting. Jimmy starts it off NICE!!! I appreciate the emotion, because it's not like. Prodigy, I fucking love this motherfucker. Dude is officially an OG. Banks comes in, and it's almost as if he's holding back, because you're just waiting for him to explode....but he doesn't, which just goes to show how much people expect from Banks these days, I think Banks is the best NY rapper right now, he's taken the throne. This is pure street music. Dope.

Perfect Day" (feat. Chink Santana) - 2.5/5 - Up and down track, starts so well but keeps getting worse.

Changing the Locks" (feat. Ashanti) - 3/5 - Horrible beat, horrible idea. Ashanti saves it and makes it listenable.

God Bless the Child" (feat. Wyclef Jean) - 2/5 - Someone please make Wyclef come back to making real music. Weak.

Itza - 3.5/5 - This is what I like. Dope finish.

Overall - 3/5 - Typical up and down Jimmy album, but this one is less of a disappointment than his previous releases because everyones waiting for the Dipset album. Still expected more, but the Raekwon track and the Banks/Prodigy tracks are as much of a modern day NY classic as he can ever make.
The New York Times - "Lloyd Banks may have stealthily become the most important rapper in New York".
