No Kanye (rap) album has a bad song

Postby FreeSpeech » May 27th, '11, 02:22

I put (rap) just because some people obviously hate 808s, I don't, and I like every song on it. Seriously, Kanye doesn't have a single bad song on his albums. Every beat's sick, every song is either lyrical/hearfelt or very catchy and banging, or both. No song has bad or even mediocre production, it's 100% superb. The only song I have a problem with is H.A.M. and it isn't on one of his solo albums.

Just let that sink in. 0 bad songs. Eminem has some. Jay has em. Nas does. Kanye? 0.

Of course I'm sure some of you don't like certain songs of his or just aren't Kanye fans, but I don't think ANYONE can pick one of his album songs and say it's straight up bad.

...yet you don't name a song. The only thing you can pull is his lyrics, and obviously they aren't your style, but to label a song "bad" is not gonna happen. What are you gonna say, Lost In The World since it's mostly singing and his verse isn't really rapped? You can't genuinely label any Yeezy songs as bad, prepare to be crushed in any debate you attemt.

It's good, great beat, chorus, and an integral part of the MBDTF story. The lyrics are on point, straight up poetry. It's witty, and has one of Rick Ross' best verses ever. Kanye pulls the best out of everybody. I understand if you don't like it, I'm sure some people don't like any of Kanye's stuff, but this woulld not generally be considered a bad song whatsoever.

I mean, I understand why someone would like the song. But it's really not for me. I despise the beat the most, it just annoys me for some odd reason. People have called it amazing, I don't feel the same...I just can't listen to the track without skipping it, it honestly brings the album down a little bit for me, it's so bad IMO, I like absolutely nothing about it at all. That's why I said "I think it's a bad song" lol...

I'm also not that big of a Kanye fan, though, I know you're more of a fan than me...not to say I'm not a fan, I like his music and really like MBDTF, it honestly IS my favorite Kanye album...I like almost all of the songs except that one lol. Don't think it's a classic, though, I do think it is kinda overrated...but it's whatever.

Yeah I get that, but the general consensus of educated hiphop fans would be that it''s not a "bad" song. It's one of the "worst" songs on MBDTF, but that's like being the worst player on the allstar team if you know what I mean. It was a necessary part of the story.

And I do believe MBDTF is a classic, it's one of the most artistic albums ever. However, it is overrated by Pitchfork-hipster-type douches. Don't let that detract from it though any more than hating Em because of all his stupid fans.

I agree on the art, but really, MBDTF had some of the best production I've heard, but production doesn't exactly define a classic alone for me...Kanye kinda fell back lyrically to me (I dunno about you...), but some of his best songs, IMHO are on this album. And Late Registration.

It depends on what you mean by lyrically. IDK how close attention you've paid to the lyrics, but there aren't many albums, especially mainstream albums, that have a more focused, coherent storyline. And the fact that it's all personal shit is why i love it. If you're looking for crazy multis and wordplay, it doesn't have that. It doesn't need that, and I think it would have actually detracted from the album and made it feel like he was rapping to rap instead of spilling his soul. To me, Kanye's like Tupac in the sense that his voice and emotion/story make up for his lack of multis and Slaughterhouse type rap. It's one of the best albums I've heard, it's so meticulously crafted.

How much have you listened to it? I love/appreciate it more with eachlisten. You have to pay attention, you can't just sit back and jam to it like Graduation.

Who are you to have the final say on if a song is bad or not?

I haven't listened to the full album in forever. I mean, I guess what I should have said his rhymes aren't that great, the content and what's being said is good, I'm just not impressed. I guess, though, that he really was rapping from his soul, rhymes aren't impressive, but lyricism is, if that makes sense? To me, an actual classic should have great "everything", ya know? But, MBDTF is a classic for 2010, most definitely, my second favorite of the year after Recovery. It's a great album, don't get me wrong man.

I actually agree with this a lot, but moreso with the beats being completely layered that you can't listen to everything the first time around. Every song has its own sound yet flows together coherently with the rest of the album. One of the best produced albums for it's time, only album that matches this in production recently would have to go to Black Milk's Album of the Year.
