Lasers vs Recovery

Postby slimshadylappin » May 31st, '11, 06:35

Both are oviously pretty similar. Both are very commercial. Both were dissapointing and disliked by the artist't diehard fans.

Personally I think Lasers edges Recovery out slightly but my opinoun is bias anyway

As low as Lasers gets sometimes it never gets as bad as Not Afraid

I'm not really a die hard Lupe fan, but I definitely liked a few songs off LASERS.

I don't think it was as solid as an album for me as Recovery was though. They both had their ups and downs but I feel like the worst moments on Recovery > over the worst moments in LASERS. ( Stan opinion  )

That being said, I still liked both albums regardless of if they're not the best works of either artist.

I think Recovery was more consistent but "the shouting" kills any replay value for me so I have to say Lasers. Not that I play more than 3-4 songs off it but still.

Overall Recovery, however the best track from both of them is on Lasers and all the good ones are far more powerful than anything on Recovery.

Granted, Recovery is Eminem's most commercially appealing album. You have songs such as Spacebound, LTWYL, Not Afraid etc, but it's taken way out of proportion. Yes, he featured Pink on his album. But was that song commercially appealing? No. It's over-exaggerated. I'm not directing this at you, but some posters act like every song on Recovery was created to appeal to the masses. They seemly forget about songs such as On Fire, So Bad, Almost Famous, Cold Wind Blows and Untitled which were obviously created for his "older" fans.

Back on topic, I think Recovery takes it. I really like Lasers, it has some awesome tracks. But Recovery's highlights > Lasers' highlights, in my opinion. Good to see Sway on Lupe's album, though!

Yeah, I'm a diehard Em fan, and I love Recovery.
I liked Recovery a lot better than I liked Lasers. Lasers is still a pretty good album, but to me, it feels so unlike Lupe, and even he has said that he hates the album. It's not him.

This

Recovery was sick, Relapse was horrible.

Just because something is less commercial appealing or "more like Eminem" (whatever that means), doesn't mean anything when it comes to good music, and judging it on music. Recovery >>>>>>>>>>>

Anyway, on topic I prefer Lasers out of the two, but Recovery was a great album.

If Marshall can create a few Recovery esque albums in the future before he retires, I will be a very happy boy.

I've listened to both but I haven't listen to Lasers extensively, I just couldn't get into it, so maybe I'm biased but if I couldn't get into it that means that Recovery > Lasers IMO, but it is neither artists best work (undisputed) so I guess its an irrelevant question in my book :coffee:

Whoa quite a notion you have there of the die hard fans, i hope you're not basing that from the YouTube community!

Anyway im a die hard Em fan and i liked Recovery, there's more lyrical skill in Recovery, whereas only about 3 songs really stand out on Lasers, but i know thats not Lupe's fault. Anyway my vote goes to Recovery.

Makes me wonder why you're not a music critic, as you're opinions are clearly very very objective.
