Journalist 103 has a solo album coming out soon

Postby Hiphopdane » Jun 10th, '11, 20:17

Today I searched for the official fanpage of Detroit rapper Journalist 103 on Facebook, and when I looked through his wall posts I read that he has a solo album coming out soon. For those who don't know, he is the one and only rapper of the hip hop group The Left who last year released their debut album titled Gas Mask which I personally thought was one of the best albums in 2010.

Somebody asked him about the producers on the album and his response was that there will be several producers on it but I'm sure we can expect a few Apollo Brown cuts. DJ Premier actually had Gask Mask amongst his 25 favourite albums of 2010 so if we're lucky he may contribute with a few beats too.

In my opinion he is one of the most interesting rappers in the underground right now. His usage of the language and the way he expresses himself is always crystal clear and beautiful, and just like J. Cole is he rhetorically incredible.

Journalist is nice on the mic, no doubt. Looking forward to the album.

The real reason I posted in here though is to ask you if you have given J. Rawls' new album a spin?
It's called 'The Hip-Hop Affect' and I think it's right up your alley.

I actually downloaded it a while back after I saw you gave it props. I've only heard one or two tracks so far but I'll give it a chance someday. I'm just busy listening to Mad Skillz' "From Where???" from '96 at the moment. Brilliant album!

You definitely should, it's a great album. Rawls is one of the best producer MCs out there IMO.
Fun fact: He produced 'Brown Skin Lady' & 'Yo Yeah' off Black Star's album.

And I'll download that Mad Skillz album tomorrow, looks interesting. :8)

The production was one of the things that I noticed when I listened but I didn't know he had produced the album himself (I have skimmed throught it but only really given a couple of tracks a proper chance).

So many albums are dropping at the moment so it's hard to keep up :y:
