Favorite Region

This has probably been done a million times, but just curious.

I usually don't confine it into regions, and like to enjoy music for what it is, but some regions, encapsulates certains sounds that others can't the East Coast is great for gritty winter music during the mid 90s (Wu Tang/Mobb Deep), while the West is great for summer music (G Funk).

All time it's probably the East Coast, but I've taken a liking to early 00 West Coast Alternative, Deltron 3030, Blackalicious, Zion I, and some Midwest as well, (Doomtree/Lupe).

Someone should do a round up of all the great artists from each coast, I like the East and West cause of the general sound and cohesiveness the regions have, while I like certain artists from the Midwest that have no similarities at all, and you wouldn't even be able to tell they inhabited the same region.

I'm expecting a lot of people's answers to be midwest.

Anyway, East Coast is my favorite with the South being a close second. (KillahBee, I see you!)

Ha, this guy just read my mind :b:

'88-97 (my favourite hip hop period) = East Coast
From '98 onwards, it would be the South, not by much though
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide

Ace Hood - Cash Flow (feat. Rick Ross & T-Pain) (One of my favorites, T-Pain kills the hook!)
Akon - New York City (Not a Southern beat, but dope nonetheless)
DJ Khaled - Go Hard (feat. Kanye West & T-Pain) (My second favorite behind Ross' Speedin')
Fabolous - My Time (feat. Jeremih) (Jeremih really shines on this one, the hook is amazing)
Lil Wayne - Money On My Mind (This one is straight up nasty)

Those are my favorites, & of course every Ross beat. lol

That's a hard one, but it's a close call between the Midwest and East coast.

It's annoying when people cite the West Coast only for Gangsta Rap or G Funk, when it has a lot of great Alternative rap, and lyrical rap at that. Gift of Gab is one of the genre's best lyricists, and Deltron 3030 and Mind over Matter have some of the best beats that aren't G Funk.

The real GOAT producer from The West isn't Dre, btw it's Madlib.

Who are the South's best artists other than Outkast/Cunninlynguists?
