Word, you also haveto take into account the context and the way it's delivered, and not just evaluate the dopeness of the punchline by itself, they don't exist in vacuums.

Alright reading all his punchlines, he's on the exact same level as Chino Xl for wack punchlines that try to be clever but fail miserably, and if he doesn't deliver them in a Big L style than eh... This makes me want to retract my staement conceding that Vakill is a better punchline rapper than Big L, they're atrocious, and he tries way too hard to be clever.

Big L's wordplay wasn't amazing but it sure as fuck wasn't as corny or forced as these ones.

Which is why I hate rappers who's whole style revolves around wordplay or punchlines, most of the ones posted seem liked filler or just shock lines.

If you're going to focus the entirety of your raps around punchlines than you better be damned good at it or I don't want to hear inane chatter about how big your dick is. Some rappers are extremely good with punchlines and could pull of that style Rhyme Asylum and to a lesser extent Lupe Fiasco in Failure, what separates them from all these worthless punchline mcees are that they're lines aren't just worthless filler thrown into the verse to make it look more impressive than it really is, and that the punchlines are built into the verse seamlessly and are themed.

My favorite wordplay however would happen to be

I square up, select, and rec'd, every tangle

I think Copy does it best, 3-4 good punches in a verse and the rest of the verse is just sick rhymes with a dope flow.
