Finally started listening to Outkast...

Yeah, I know...I'm behind on the times. I bought ATLiens the other day, and have been listening to it a lot lately. I'm going with Aquemini next, and I think the Cadillac's cd changer will probably be switching between those two albums quite a bit in the coming weeks. I've listened to a little bit of Stankonia, and I can't really get with it yet, but yeah...it's all good, I guess.

It's insane how much Kendrick's style was influenced by Andre 3000.

SB/TLB are some of my favorite albums EVER.
This to me was a perfect follow up to Stankonia and their styles are so different in each song you will not be disappointed by their stuff. :flutter:

Kendrick played GKMC for Andre 3000 so it means that he definitely respects him and his Alien voice is definitely influenced by Andre

Yeah.

I remember watching this--Kendrick and Andre vibing out-- and realising the same thing.

CrashBand, you prick bastard.

I actually haven't heard the "Pink Matter" collab though. I'm not sure why I hadn't listened to an Outkast album prior to this. I had heard individual songs, but I wasn't really a fan of their later stuff. I think some of what might have held me back was my distaste for southern rap during the time they were really blowing up. I didn't dislike them, but I didn't really listen to any southern rap at that time. Even as a kid, I was a dick.

I get the sadness that Outkast fans feel now though. It's kind of a bummer knowing (I mean, let's be real) that there won't be any new Outkast albums coming out. I'm saddened by the fact that they ended on Stankonia (again, let's be honest here) as a full-on group, prior to splitting their focus and doing SB/TLB. Not that it isn't good...I haven't actually heard it, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Having heard Creekwater before hearing Outkast's earlier work, I can also say confidently that Yelawolf was trying to emulate that Outkast style earlier on.

Once you've gotten through their discography - if you enjoyed it - Big Boi's album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty was also a very good.

You do miss Andre though - he's certainly the fan favourite.

Pink Matter's the ultimate vibe btw. It now reminds me of last year - getting home in the early hours of the morning. Still drunk. Drugged up. Smokey room. Dimmed light. Getting lost in some Pink Matter.

ATLiens is one of my favorite hip hop albums. Outkast are amazing. Better late than never.

I've only listened to their first album, and I adore it.

:y: Those are must hear albums!
I suggest you check some of the Goodie Mob older albums as well as they are part of the Dungeon Family too. Purple Ribbon All-Stars album deserves a listen too... even only for the fact Big Boi & Killer Mike are members of the group.

I'm ashamed to say I still haven't listened to an entire album by Outkast.
I'm mad crazy about Ms. Jackson though.

I love them, as someone above said, better late than never.
