He's such a bi-polar artist, man. I hate to say but up until the No Genre mixtape, he was so exciting to follow. Afterwards, it's like...meh, he may or may not make a good song. It's like he tries to cover too many topics at once and showcase his musical talent. He's talented out of his ass but doesn't seem to know how to manage it properly or at least create a solid, cohesive project. For example, I can think of a few songs from the No Genre mixtape that can easily be substituted into The Adventures of Bobby Ray to make an awesome album...and they were only like...half a year apart.

Yes, he's able to make songs that a lot of artists can't
I used to defend him when he did balling songs and club songs back in the days, like ''How 'Bout That'' from EPIC, because he can do so many things on the mic that he may give you straight rap bars like Beast Mode, a light rock sounding track like Ghost in the machine, a banger like Ray Bands, a R&B joint like Friday Night Star and a smash single like Nothing On You.
He's really versatile, and that doesn't help him focus on a expecific sound for a project.
The thing is, in all of those examples I quoted, he was being himself. You can tell that.
That's not what I feel when I listen to some of the shit on Fuck Em We Ball and Headband, for example.
He's trying to do something that he isn't. We got a lot of rappers to deliver that kind of song to us, like Tyga and 2 chainz. B.o.B is capable of so much more than an ''Insert Artist Here'' song. And at the same that he makes stupid songs, he has Where Are You, in which he shows he's aware of how his fans feel about his music, and this ''Missing'' song which is just what B.o.B should always do to me.
I guess we'll have to accept the fact that he will never fulfil his potential as an artist and great songs will come interpolated with shitty ones, and he won't go down as the legend he could be, but his fans will sporadically be blessed with pieces of greatness here and there.

Strange Clouds is a nice one, with a nice cover...

Meh, as already stated - he has talent out his ass but can't make a cohesive project. He can do rock, rock rap, pop rock, pop rap, club rap, hardcore rap, concepts... anything, but he can't stick to a single sound, every album sounds like a mixtape. He can make songs, but not albums.

Also, conceptually speaking - he's been a let down.

And he always shows pre-album promise like that political rap before? But then he makes trash.

He's definitely in some kinda slump creatively & esp. conceptually like you said... but the good thing is he's got plenty of talent & could always improve. I mean he's a young cat after all.

Possibly, I mean...he had two years between his debut and Strange Clouds but still felt...wrong. It's hard to explain but I know you understand, lol. I honestly think I enjoy his mixtapes more (up until EPIC) because it feels like he's more comfortable to fuck around because there isn't the pressure of sales.

I agree... a lotta rappers sound better on their mixtapes 'cuz they don't need to compromise anything on 'em. It's true Strange Clouds was a downgrade kinda but I'm optimistic about his future considering his talent. I mean he just has to get it together & all that.
