When The Hunger for more came out in 2004 it became an immediate favorite of mine. Not only did Banks bring his A-game as far as word play and metaphors go (those of us who'd been following were expecting a lot) but every single track was fire. It was like a more intelligent Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.
Years later, in 2010 I heard the sequel, after having been extremely disappointed with the almost unlistenable The Rotten Apple in 2006. I was disappointed that THFM2 had so many features, but I kept an open mind. Well, Banks still killed it with wordplay but he brought his Rotten Apple voice too and it sounded forced and that ruined it for me. But at least the album was listenable, but not with a lot of stand-out tracks. My aim in this thread is to go back and listen to that album, because nothing really stood out the first time I heard it and I've not gone back to it in three years. It's time. But what's clear is that there's no way it can touch the original THFM, and it's a shame when sequels don't live up to the original (I've got my eye on you, Eminem).
Did you guys like this album and what are your opinions on it? I'ma go back and listen to it today and come back with some updates when I have a clearer picture of what stands out on the album.
