Lupe Fiasco - Poor decisions: We’ve all watched the transformation of Lupe Fiasco‘s career over the years and I’m sure we can all agree that one thing is still intact. His lyrics !
Double Entendres, wordplays, rhymes,.. Lupe catches two bodies on "Poor Decisions" and delivers what is in my opinion the best rap verse of 2013. Every single word means something and his flow is absolutely nuts in the middle of his verse.
Joe Budden - Control: Joey didn’t just send shots to Kendrick. Trinidad Jame$, A$AP Rocky, Jay Electronica and Meek Mill also caught some of that ether Joe was spitting. I'm not big on Joe but I'd say that it was the best response to Kendrick - Control pt 1
Kendrick Lamar & Pusha T - Nosetalgia: From what I have seen on different hip hop forums & blogs, most people give Kendrick the edge for Nostalgia because of his bars but I value delivery very high and Pusha came hard, I feel like you can't argue the merits of Kendrick without bringing up Pusha-T, and vice-versa. Storytelling, wordplays, double entendres, Kendrick's lyrics are on some illmatic level and oh lawwd, does Pusha-T have the best delivery in Hip hop ?
Big Krit - 1train: 1 Train featured seven of the best rappers in the game right now and Krit managed to stand out, from his verse to the energy on the track. Everybody else was acting like it was a practice run. He surely impressed anyone who was sleeping on him with that vicious verse on A$AP Rocky's song.
Nas - Let Nas down: In case you forgot, Nas is still one of the dopest MCs around and he flexes his muscle here to remind you. How can it not be a contender for best verse of the year ? Nas at this point can do it at will. I like the kinda-subliminal at Jay that he clears up a few bars later
J. Cole - Lit: J. Cole literally paints pictures of success and pain with his lyrics. If this verse doesn’t touch you in some way, shape, or form, you should’ve been an extra in World War Z.
I ain't big on rappers like Tech N9ne, Watsky or Earl and I haven't listened to Yela's recent songs so feel free to contribute
