TOP 25 RAPPERS OF ALLTIME...

Postby Miguided_Angel13 » Nov 21st, '13, 06:40

Okay, so I'm almost positive that nobody's top 25 Rappers (or rap groups) list would sync up with mine entirely. However, I'm curious how other rap aficianados would rank thier top 25 picks? My criteria was basically- how they peaked my interest, how the music stands the test of time, and replay value (did I play the album til the tape popped or the paint flaked off the disks type stuff). So here goes my list-

1. Tupac
2. Busta Rhymes
3. Biggie
4. KRS-1
5. Eminem
6. Big Pun
7. Nas
8. DMX
9. WU Tang
10. Ice Cube
11. Rakim
12. Jay-Z
13. LL Cool J
14. Scarface
15. Tribe Called Quest
16. 50 Cent
17. Tech N9ne
18. Snoop
19. Kool G Rap
20. OutKast
21. NWA
22. Bone Thugs
23. E-40
24. Del
25. Public Enemy

***Okay, so I'm recognizing how my list would suggest that lesser known artists aren't as worthy. That's not the case and I should have spelled that out originally. So here's my companion list for those lesser known artists that still deserve mad recognition

Top 25 Unsung Heroes of Rap
1. R.A. The Rugged Man
2. Psycho Realm
3. Swollen Members
4. Killah Priest
5. Fatlip (Pharcyde)
6. King Gordy (not his newer god molestor stuff)
7. La Coka Nostra
8. MF Doom
9. Yelawolfe
10. B-Real (Cypress Hill)
11. Kool Keith (cmon, he sucks at times, but as the godfather of weirdo rap, he raps by a totally abstract measuring stick and is as entertaining as anybody)
12. SonDoobie
13. Proof
14. Scarub (Living Legends)
15. Shock-G
16. Mastamind (Natas)
17. Tajai (Souls of Mischief)
18. Dirtball
19. Wreckonize (MayDay)
20. Esham
21. Big Daddy Kane
22. Grave Diggaz
23. Moka Only
24. Camp Lo
25. Breed

Why is Busta that high in the top 25, or even anywhere in the top 25? Just curious.

I dunno, I've just always felt that Busta comes correct on whatever he's doing. He just seems like one rapper that can come outta the woodworks at anytime and straight school whatever he's on. And as a performer, I feel like you'd be hard pressed to find somebody that's more of a natural than him. Who else can come back outta the blue and crush tracks like "Wolrdwide Choppers" or even his guest spot on The Carter 4. But yeah, I knew he'd be a harder sell at the number 2 spot. Just a personal fav of mine is all.

Why does everyone put 2Pac as their #1?

He was good, but everything he did, Eminem did better...way better. Same goes for Biggie.

cuz he died at an insane high in 1996 and still did things that eminem has yet to do, political activist taking up meaningful social causes, actor in MULTIPLE movies (and was damn good), making songs like Unconditional Love or Better Dayz (social commentary), adding to that he gets the benefit of the doubt because he died before we got to see what he would have done. Em is definitely second for me though

Pac has always been my #1 because of his charisma, his storytelling, his songwriting skills and the emotion he used to put in his music.

Dude, there's no point anymore to try to explain to people why pac's goat tbh tr is just not a fan of pac which is totally dumb when they're favorite rapper is so identical to pac in so many ways and Kendrick is the new pac :y:

there will never be another pac homie :sweating: but I hear his influence in Kendrick's music, just like I hear his influence in a lot of Emcees' music.

Pac and Scarface are definitely my favorite storytellers of all time !

edit: now that I think about it, most of my favorite albums are from the West: Pac albums, Cube albums, NWA - SOC, The Chronic, Doggystyle, Below The Heavens, Kdot's albums, Follow Me Home, Kurupt albums... :flutter:
