I think anyone dismissing Cube right away is just pure ignorant. In my opinion without Cube west coast hip hop is not where it is. He kind of was able to break down the doors for some of the stuff Pac said before he was in the game. I mean from 88 with Straight Outta Compton to 93 with Lethal Injection Cube was straight fire and arguably the best MC in the game. He was touching on topics nobody ever thought about brining up. Sure after Lethal Injection he has declined some and Pac has a pretty good catalog (first album and a decent chunk of his second album was meh but those last 3 albums were great). But by the time Pac dropped his first album Cube had dropped Straight Outta, Amerikkka's and Death Certificate, 3 of the best albums ever. I would probably pick Pac but could honestly say Cube. Also just think about this point if Cube is killed after Lethal Injection like Pac after 7 Day Theory, is Cube viewed in a different light? I think so.

This is very tricky & I'd never point out one outta those two 'cuz both of them are West Coast titans...

Cube was successful with 3 different acts... started with N.W.A. & was more than vital on Straight Outta Compton then left & wrecked N.W.A with No Vaseline after they dissed him first on Niggaz4Life His first 3 solo albums are absolute Hip-Hop classics... no doubt about it. Not to mention all the rest are solid as well. He fucked with Public Enemy for a while & put on Da Lench Mob afterwards. He assisted his cousin Del's debut which is an absolute classic too & is basically the album that put the Bay Area on. Then he had success with Westside Connection too...
Born & raised in LA, representing it all of his life he's basically the ultimate West Coast king even though I'd never say he was a better artist than Pac.

Pac was born & raised & even started his rap career in NY but then moved to Oakland & became one of the greatest artists of all time while representing the West Coast to the full.
His solo albums & his chemistry with Snoop were absolutely insane. Death Row as a clique were easily untouchable before Suge fucked all that up. Pac could never match his solo success with Outlawz but they definitely got respect & recognition. His music splashed worldwide & he beats Cube at that. Too bad we lost him too early, we could only imagine what would it be if he kept doing what he was doing before he got killed.

Bottom line is... both of them can easily be considered as one of the best Hip-Hop artists of all time.

Ice Cube. The greatest emcee to ever surface from the West Coast (and no, Pac is not considered East coast).

Pac has sold more albums and is widely considered a better emcee because a huge ammount of is catalog is easier to relate to emotionally. Cube on the other hand might not have some "soft" songs such as Pac's Keep ya head up, Unconditional love and Brenda's got baby but is a way more talented rapper (skill wise obviously). For about 5 years (1990-1994) he was probably the best rapper in the world, and that was even after he conquered the world with NWA.
