Sneak Dissed Jay-Z

Would you call [Jay Z’s] American Gangster a concept album? If it is, then yeah, I guess. All he did was just make crack songs. I feel like I just made a concept album about a kid from Toronto that’s on. I’m not good at telling fictional stories, so I would never be able to do that. There are rappers that are good at telling stories about people that aren’t themselves. There are people that have vast imaginations to go and make up a story just to achieve a point. I draw off life experiences.

Drake is getting shitted on by the Jay fans atm but I don't know why Hiphopdx deleted that part of the interview..

Some people even think that he sent a few shots at Eminem

“It would be tough for me to go in conceptual storytelling. The last great concept album was [Kendrick Lamar’s] good kid m.A.A.d city—still obviously true to his life but very conceptual. Very specific stories that need to be told. I always say hats off to that album, that album’s incredible, what an undertaking. For me, I would never want to be restricted to that.” he said.

he lowkey dissed the whole mafioso genre and the story tellers from the 90's
lmao Jay-z's album just a bunch of crack songs but him rapping about simping, the club, being one of the hottest rappers & the competition is a concept album :coffee:

Can you do both?

Can you?
I think so. I’m never gonna be the number one guy on the blogs but at the same time, you can’t ever say I don’t rap. You can’t say my bars aren’t up there with the best of them unless it’s just not your brand of music. In that case, it’s okay because I had artists I would never fukk with either before I ever made music. Everyone’s not gonna love you. I feel like majority when it comes down to it, it’s tough for people to be like, “Nah, Drake can’t rap.” [Laughs] With that being said, yeah all the lyrical shyt is dope. It’s just people keep challenging me about what’s real rap. Is it the shyt you know all the words to or the shyt that sounds fast and complex? I don’t have the answer. At the same time, I know I can do a couple things. [Laughs]

He draws FAR TOO MUCH from his own life tbh. His songs have become stale and boring. The same thing over and over again. That's is problem, he can't step out of his comfort zone for a second because if he does he ends up failing at it.

I agree with you, that's why I think he has to go left on his senior album, maybe full R&B, I don't know
But I was ok with it on NWTS because it was the solidification of his sound, cause Thank Me Later has a little bit of that commercial debut thing to it and Take Care has it own depressed sound
NWTS may have been everything we expect Drake to do but he has never done that in a studio album, they're all different sonically imo, as I said

I don't why I keep defending Drake but that post is so wrong :zipped:

Take Care and NWTS are literally nothing like Thank Me Later. They're completely different albums in every aspect.

MMLP2 was the complete opposite of mature except for maybe Headlights. And I'd rather hear Drake rap about being the shit and partying then listen to Eminem whine about how much he hates women and his other toilet humor. Nothing is mature about that.

And whether you or I like it or not, Drake is in it for the long run. He's one of the biggest artists in the game and everybody who matters in hip-hop fucks with him. I don't like his music at all but you can't deny that he has an extremely long career in front of him. And not sure how much you listen to any of those artists because J. Cole, Drake and Future sound almost nothing like and if there is any similarities its because J. Cole copies Drake's style sometimes.

I'll play

Saying that Drake has a long career ahead of him is irrelevant when discussing his music which is steadily becoming garbage

Current Eminem does other things than whine about women and toilet humor, DRAKE is the master of whining about woman and the whole 'im busy being famous i aint got time to love you me so sorry' shit so again class, you fell off hard son

It described him perfectly in 2004. But 2004 doesn't matter in 2014, now does it?

No. The quality of his music is irrelevant to his long career which is what I was discussing when responding to this "Drake will be nothing more than a memory by the time he's Em's age." which is clearly wrong.

Current Eminem does other things than whine about women and toilet humor, DRAKE is the master of whining about woman and the whole 'im busy being famous i aint got time to love you me so sorry' shit so again class, you fell off hard son

Drake does whine about women but its in a much more personal and relatable way and is more real than Em whining about how much he hates them.
