[Nas]
Street's disciple, my raps are trifle
I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle
Stampede the stage, I leave the microphone split
Play Mr Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone shit
Verbal assassin, my architect pleases
When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffing Jesus
Nasty Nas is a rebel to America
Police murderer, I'm causing hysteria
My troops roll up with a strange force
I was trapped in a cage and let out by the Main Source
Swimming in women like a lifeguard
Put on a bulletproof nigga I strike hard
Kidnap the President's wife without a plan
And hanging niggas like the Ku Klux Klan
I melt mics till the sound wave's over
Before stepping to me you'd rather step to Jehovah
Slamming MC's on cement
Cause verbally, I'm iller than a AIDS patient
I move swift and uplift your mind
Shoot the gift when I riff in rhyme
Rapping sniper, speaking real words
My thoughts react, like Steven Spielberg's
Poetry attacks, paragraphs punch hard
My brain is insane, I'm out to lunch, God
Science is dropped, my raps are toxic
My voicebox locks and excels like a rocket

Hesky wrote:My favourite verse of Nas' is probably the first verse of Memory Lane. Although the beat is pretty mellow, what is being described (in a quite poetic fashion) is the grim reality of American ghettos. His flow and rhyming are just the icing on the cake.

yeah outside pac nas is the only person that can talk about something profound but still be rhyming his ass off

most of the time it is either one or other.

Sure, PM me though. Don't wanna go off topic in your thread.

Another one of my favourite verses for some reason is the second verse of "You're Da Man". Just great phrasing.

nas your da man

But I overstand they truth is all lame
I hold cannons that shoot balls of flames

nas is not like eminem pun or g rap where he spits multis consecutively for entire verse

but when he does spit a multi is makes sense and actually rhyme at the same time

@ menzo Pac wasn't ever too multi-heavy though. He knew how, he displayed moments of three-four multies but I don't think he put as much time into making sure things rhyme rather than just getting the message across.

nas is or wasn't either he was never the type to spit entire verse full of multis that matched in syllable count not the same word actually rhyming syllables that actually rhymed and was in a non aaaa or abab rhyme scheme format he never could do that for entire verse only dudes who write in text format and most of the time dudes who write like that don't even rhyme syllables that actually rhyme they use assonance and it is in a abab or aaaa format.

Second verse of this, but you need to listen to the whole thing. :worship:

"So one last time, I'm back, 'fore it fades into black and it's all over, behold the final chapter in the saga, trying to recapture that lightning trapped in a bottle twice, the magic that started it all...tragic portrait of an artist tortured....trapped in his own drawings..." - Bruce.

how am i supposed to choose?.. :(

i've played "Distant Relatives" last week, so just a random fave verse by Nas:

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
New York to Cali, for the money, power, respect
It's a journey, some'll get left behind
Cause in life, you cannot press rewind
Get it right, you only have one first chance
To make one first impression that lasts a lifetime
Reputation supersedes itself
Do you believe in Hell? Babylon greed for wealth
Do you deceive yourself and let your ego swell?
And disregard those who most need your help
Thick skin, the dark won't take my soul
Survive spiritual wars, see my welts
And the evil's felt, but the faith is stronger
I saw grown men fall when I was a youngster
But I clench my fists, ready to go against whoever
Tie my Timbs and rise in the end

lyrically it might not be his top one, but there's such a chemistry between Nas and Damian and on this song particularly. he killed this beat, his flow is flawless here.

other than that.. man, every verse on 'One Mic' or 'What Goes Around' or 'Memory Lane' or.. just insert a random verse here, i'm ok with that. :shifty:
