Scott Storch Says 50 Cent Could Have The Next Interscope Rec

Scott Storch speaks on his work with those at Interscope Records, says Jimmy Iovine is at the top of the chain of command.

As an artist who has worked with 50 Cent on numerous occasions, producer Scott Storch went on to express his confidence in 50 and the Queens rapper’s new deal with Caroline/Capitol/UMG during a recent interview with Mikey T The Movie Star. 50 Cent’s independent deal also marks the end of the G-Unit helmsman’s deal with Interscope Records, his label home for well over a decade.

According to Storch, 50 was able to learn a great deal about the music business during his time at Interscope and even has the ability to become the owner of the next Interscope Records.

“I definitely believe he knows what he’s doing with business,” Storch said. “And shit, his training wheels came off a long time ago. So, if he’s free now from a deal where he made a major, major company [and] major, major cash. He knows the blueprint. He knows how to do it. So, why not do it for yourself? It’s all growing. We don’t know this, but at some point in the future 50 Cent could be the owner of the next Interscope Records.”

During his interview with Mikey T The Movie Star, Storch was also asked about his experience working with Jimmy Iovine, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. He spoke on the camaraderie between the trio and stated that Iovine is the individual who tops the chain of command.

“There’s a loyalty amongst them,” the beatsmith said. “I believe that like they all work with each other to create incredible music, man. It’s kind of a difficult question to answer. But, you know, there’s a chain of command with the Interscope system. It starts with Jimmy.”

In addition to speaking on 50 Cent’s ability to become the head of the next Interscope Records, Storch later credited the rapper on his ability to use his music to open doors to other business ventures.

“In certain areas and certain streams? No,” Storch said when asked if producers are still making as much money as they used to. “But in other ones? Yeah. I mean, there’s definitely money to make. But the way we make our money [has] just changed. Having music out there and using the music as just simply a form to, or a marketing tool to create other deals. 50 Cent’s like really one of the people that really took advantage of that and utilized his music to take him to other places.”

Although 50 Cent and Scott Storch have not worked together recently, Storch did work with the Jamaica, Queens rapper on both “Candy Shop” and “Just A Lil Bit.”

Following his return to music last year, Storch has worked with a handful of artists including the Clipse’s Pusha T and Bronx lyricist Fat Joe.
