Please explain Lil Wayne

Postby pudding » Apr 24th, '14, 08:39

Was he ever dope? I think he's a whack piece of shit but I don't want to say that anymore without actually hearing his music. The thing is I don't really have the time and energy to scour the web and see if he's dope or half decent during any era. So please answer this question and back it up with songs and reasoning, much appreciated. The only songs I really heard were the joints he done with Em, a Milli and Dr. Carter. Not really dope if you ask me. Thanks in advance for guiding me through hip-hop.
p.s. give me some good artists and their good songs (HIP-HOP), I'm so focused on Em and I need to expand my music, thanks again.

First one was a candy rapper... You gave me a white Lil Wayne... Not really lyrical, dope and there was no message or a good one.

Second one was interesting, not really lyrical nor was it dope in terms of wordplay (flow was weird too) but it definitely had a message that I liked. I loved the subtle scariness/loneliness of this guy's addiction/lifestyle, I mean as he was rapping, he looks back on his life and see how alone he really is once all the fun is all over but in the outro, he finds another bag of weed and doesn't change shit, going back into the same habits. Quite a real song if you ask me. Probably won't listen to it much though.

Third one, I can't listen to it if I don't have the lyrics... You said it was a "shameless self promotion", which means that you made the song... you want to give me the lyrics so i can really judge it?

Hage wrote:He has always been wack but gradually became even worse over the years, for that reason people look with a nostalgic feeling towards his earlier album despite them still being complete trash.

I thought so... but some people said that 2007-2009 Lil Wayne would murder 2007-2009 Em or some shit like that... Do you think so?

It is me.
The lyrics are in the description of the video.
Also, in response to your comments about Riff Raff - he isn't some sort of impressive lyricist, he just has a great delivery and says cool shit that's why I like him, his music is fun - that beat as well. I do respect your opinion it's not for everyone understandably.

Do you listen to the Wu Tang Clan?

His first 3 'Carter' albums were pretty dope. + He has tons of great mixtapes in the beginning of his career.

I will never listen to any solo project by Lil Wayne. I enjoy his verses on the eminem collabs tho.
Hating on Wayne is not cool/funny anymore imo

Wayne used to be dope. He spat a verse over the Renegade beat and it was fire.

Aone on the point... :y:
Tho i'm enjoying him on the Em songs, he actually tries to do something on those.
Older work from him isn't the best, but it isn't bad neither, pretty average tbh.

Also, i'm recommending you to check out the whole discography from Big L, that dude is fucking beast, RIP. :worship:

little offtopic tho.

carter 2 is one of the best albums of the 2000s tbh, but he fell off after c3.

and da drought 3 is probably one of the best mixtapes of all time

but trshady will tell you that wayne is wack just like other forums will tell you that eminem is wack just because the fans can't accept that the 2 artists are different
