Every rapper as good as Jay-Z is overrated because he's obviously going to get praised a lot and then there will be other people who don't think he lives up to the praise. Biggie is overrated, Pac is overrated, Nas is overrated, Eminem is overrated. It's all so meaningless

Wonder if there are a substantial number of people who think The Beatles are overrated. I am used to thinking that they are sort of undisputed. Which should mean their music is so undeniably brilliant that no one can dispute it, or a lot of time has passed and their influence endures. Mainstream hip-hop is probably still too new for this and very few rappers (if any) have this status.

There absolutely are, lol, you don't even know. & I'd say those top 5 are pretty much old baby boom rock status, and in a few years they'll be canonized once we're all old (pac and biggie already are). They'll be the led zeppelin, pink floyd, beatles, rolling stones of rap. Though the real groups that should be canonized are OutKast, MF DOOM, Wu-tang (collectively), and The Roots.


And yeah anything that gets substantial praise and is canonized as the best ever by the masses (plebs) better live up to the damn hype, lol. Here's a few things that aren't overrated Apocalypse Now (best movie ever), Watchmen (best comic ever), The Wire, and a few of my favorite albums

If there's one rapper whose praise I don't get actually, it's Jay Electronica. i've listened to Exhibit C countless times and thought it was good but not like mindblowingly good, and he just reminds me of another Killah Priest (albeit not as gud)

lebron james is the most overrated basketball player ever

i have tried, and tried and tried, and still can't get into lebron. he comes off as this super smooth, magic johnson-esque point-forward type character, but he just sucks dick at playing basketball. like major major fucking dick, worse than current kobe i'd say. which is what makes me wonder how he's come this far and is such a timeless icon in basketball. his skill-to-praise ratio is simply unmatched. now, i understand, not all basketball is striving for getting buckets, but that's usually because it's focused on doing something else. Lebron does nothing. His game is pure filler and nothing more, he's never actually doing anything. he's the fucking lettuce in the burrito that is the NBA. he does nothing but look nice. somebody please explain to me how this guy has managed to remain relevant for so long
