Concept albums in rap

Postby boonim » Oct 18th, '14, 22:33

Which are the best? I want to check out a few. I have listened to and like GKMC, Undun, Madvillain and planning to listen to Mm..Food.

Here's a list I found at http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2014/02/rap-concept-albums-that-would-make-good-movies:

Deltron 3030, Deltron 3030
Prince Paul, A Prince Among Thieves
Sticky Fingaz, Blacktrash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones
Masta Ace, Disposable Arts
Little Brother, The Minstrel Show
Dr. Octagon, Dr. Octagonecologyst
Mr. Lif, I Phantom

Are they good? Thoughts/suggestions/commentary :) will be much appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestions. It's gonna take a while, but I will check all these out.

And that article says Dr. Octagon is actually Kool Keith and the story of the album is about an alien doctor, killing his patients and brainwashed nurses -- horror movie style :snack: .

Masta Ace, Disposable Arts is just wow!!
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Brotha Lynch Hung's Coathanga Strangla Triology is pretty solid.
It's my dream as an MC to be able to make a good concept album, hopefully I can one day.
