Singin' "Bagpipes from Baghdad" again
In my dad's drag draggin' a faggot in a Glad bag
Won't be the last time I make a dramatic entrance like that again
You thought I was lyin' when I said I think that I'm crossin' the line again
I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
Forgive me father, for I have sinned
But hip hop has left me brainwashed with a violent streak

Well, to make it more interesting this time, perhaps you could say 1-2 lines of what impressed you most about the album. People new to the genre (like me ) would then know what to look for and appreciate the album more :).

--This is mostly old school rap albums. I like the older stuff.
1. Most lyrically advanced album out there, with some nice thumpin beats, a murderous flow, and ill content.

2. Eminem is the GOAT in my opinion, and I put all his work over any artist - I listen to lots of old school rap though, but I just pick eminem over everyone I listen to.

3. Tribe Called Quest is the most intellectual rap group alive - Low End Theory has some SICKKK songs to chill out to, you can bump to them, and it gets you/friends/party goin. Listen to as much Tribe as you can, you will become a Quester, you will grow, and you honestly will take a different perspective on life. You'll be SMARTER :O free knowledge. Listen to them.

4. NAS is a rap god. Telling stories about the streets in NY, and being a rugged individual. Can learn a lot from NAS.

5. Blackout! Redman and Method Man... Legendary. Nuff said.

6. Mobb Deep, another rapper from NY, instead he's out of Hempstead. NAS and Mobb team up on a bunch of songs,
and kill it every time. Mobb Deep is more thuggish in terms of how he raps, but it's cool listening to two different takes on everyday struggles in NY during the same era.

7. The Firm - Lots of sick songs on that album. It's a NAS album, and the song Phone Tap is a fucking classic. Listen to it right now.

8. Busta Rhymes... Busts hella rhymes.

9. D12 is so raw no matter what anyone says. I really enjoy their music, their beats are nice, their content is sometimes really funny, yet really enjoyable - and they all got their own unique skills when it comes to rapping. Especially bizarre  :smoking:

10. Craig Mack - Flavor in Ya Ear is such a classic, and I started listening to a few of his songs. He really do got the funk. All though his lyrics aren't the best sometimes, the track will always be hot. I promise you that.

Thanks! This should also be a sticky thread, btw. Similar to "Rank Eminem's albums" thread.

Outkast - Atliens/Aquemini
Aquemini is Outkast at the peak of their creativity, the group kept on pushing their music forward and released one hell of a classic with their 3rd album. Southernplaya was the musical masterpiece, ATLiens was the lyrical masterpiece but with Aquemini they have a perfect balance between both elements and with a heavy dose of originality on top of it.

Madvillain - Madvillainy
One of the most creative, insane hip hop albums I've ever heard.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Jazz is one of my favorite genres. At a push, I might even say that it is my favorite genre. And I also love hip hop! So the two of them put together is, for me, pure genius.

Kendrick Lamar - GKMC/s80
What makes Kendrick so great and special to me is his versatility. He can do a track like Vanity Slaves flip it and do a track like Backseat Freestyle or Rigamortis. Do a banger like Swimming Pools or Cartoons and Cereal flip it and do a Keisha Song or Sing About Me. One of the better concept writers of his generation. Tracks like ADHD, Good Kid, Cut You Off and Opposites Attract are examples of thinking about a concept/theme and sticking to it throughout the track. Very few artist have these type of skills and can make the track sound dope at the same time.

Lauryn Hill - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
I think this album was really a precursor for what Kanye did starting in the mid-2000's. It's a pop masterpiece, Stevie-Wonder-in-the-70's level stuff. There are better singers than Lauryn Hill and better rappers than her too, but I don't think anyone can do both as well as she can.

Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
This is Trshady so I'm pretty sure I don't need to say anything on this one.

Thanks for the links :-).

I think the Eminem's albums thread is sticky and therefore visible in the first page. It would be great to have one for this section too. There is a "Rate the last album you listened to thread" which is also helpful, but this is more the "favorites"/"best" thread.

I really don't actually listen to that much rap, so my tastes are very limited, but here's what I listen to probably the most (no particular order):

Run the Jewels 2 (Run the Jewels)
Run the Jewels (Run the Jewels)
I'll Sleep When You're Dead (El-P)
The Marshall Mathers LP (Eminem)
Fantastic Damage (El-P)
The Slim Shady LP (Eminem)
Devil's Night (D12)
Sings the Blues (King Gordy)
Cancer 4 Cure (El-P)
By The Throat (Eyedea & Abilities)

Lotta white people in there, damn.
