Religion and Rap

Postby Jaba » Nov 2nd, '14, 15:47

A lot of rappers are religious, Pac was Christian (or some form of that), Rakim was muslim, etc.

List some rappers and what religion they are and how it effected their music/how they displayed it.

Kanye displayed a lot of his Christianity on The College Dropout and sprinkled some religion throughout his later albums as well

A also wanna add Kendrick. He made a whole masterpiece of an album and put tons of Christianity on it.

Also seems to be doing it with his upcoming one, at least he did with "i".

bigray wrote:None of the rappers I listen to rap about religion and I wouldn't listen to it regardless however lots of rappers or even the whole genre in rap, a large amount of them throw in gods name or say something that shows they believe in god. Nothing wrong with that, point is that the rap genre appears to believe in religion/god.

It really does

True. Nas, Em, Pac, Rakim, Kendrick, Kanye, Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross...the list is pretty long.

Eminem? Is their any proof that he is religious?

My pastor actually did this thing on famous celebs and showed how most dont believe in god, he said he listened to them for the study and songs like kim, 97 bonnie and clyde made him sick haha. He said that he didnt believe in god? But then i got all pissed and was like "you cant judge someone off their music, jus cus someone raps about somthing bad doesnt mean their a bad person or some shit, or doesnt mean they arent religious. that actually really pissed me off when my pastor said that tho".
