11/22/06 - Fabolous Shooting Caught On Tape, Album To Be Released Same Day as Nas
Cameras outside of Justin's restaurant in New York caught members of rapper Fabolous' crew snatching a chain worth $50,000 off Boston Celtic basketball player Sebastian Telfair's neck minutes before shooting.
According to the New York Daily News, the surveillance footage captured one of Fabolous' friends taking Telfair's chain while another man watched. The two men then went into Justin's restaurant, where they allegedly joined Fabolous and other friends.
The footage goes on to show Telfair shortly after making a phone call via his cell phone. About 20 minutes after that, a gunman popped off 10 rounds at the least in a nearby parking lot, leaving rapper Fabolous with a gun wound in his thigh.
The gunman allegedly fled the scene in a gray car.
Fabolous, born John Jackson, and three others were placed in a police lineup on Tuesday (Oct. 17), but Telfair failed to identify the man who robbed him.
Telfair, who had a run in with the law last year, has denied any involvement in Fabolous' shooting through his lawyer, Ed Hayes. "The [security] tape completely supports everything my client said happened that night," Hayes told the New York Daily News. "He's a lovely young man. It was outrageous what these punks did, and he will press charges."
Meanwhile, Fabolous' upcoming album, which was set to be released early 2007, is now being released later this year. "2006 was a great year for Def Jam Recordings, scoring hit records with Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Rick Ross, and LL Cool J to name a few," reads a news piece on the Def Jam website, "However, the year is not over yet... December brings new albums from Young Jeezy (December 12), Bobby Valentino (December 12), and Ghostface (December 26), as well as the Def Jam debuts from Nas (December 19) and Fabolous (December 19)!"
The month of November was apparently cleared for "El Presidente", Mr. Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, who is returning from retirement with a brand new album.
"The Rest will be pushed to 2007.." concludes the post, "SO GET READY!"
