Verse VS Verse

Postby ,-,'-{Bar}-',-, » Jun 3rd, '07, 20:03

ok here's how it works, find a verse (must have text) and post it, if you have audio also post it, then someone has to try find a verse they think is better than the previous verse, and it just keeps goin like that, this will widen peoples knowledge and will be fun to read/listen to all the dope verses

you should also bold you favourite lines from the verse and if you wish, explain why you like it.

OK here's the verse i chose

Artist: Rakim
Album: The 18th Letter
Song: It's Been a Long Time
Verse: Third verse

When I float at night, I show em new heights, I go to write
They know I strike with new prototypes to blow the mic
Critics and biters, don't know where my source of light is
Still leave authors and writers with arthritis

Cursed kids like the Pyramids when they found the style
First to ever let a rhyme flow down the Nile
The rebirth of hip-hop'll be dropped now
cause the crowd didn't hear the original in a while
So be alarmed, what you bout to see is the bomb
Like, 3-D in 'Nam, vivid like CD-Rom
Info kept like "internet.com"

My note-book's my bond like the Holy Qu'ran
Since I came in the door, said it before
But no I ain't down with Eric B. no more
At night the open mic be invitin me to rhyme
So yo I'm online, it's been a long time

Audio: http://www.zshare.net/audio/2129075b2d7535/ **

Hard to chose since i love the 3 verses in this song but i chose the third coz i love the bolded lines.

** Audio is full track, verse posted is the third verse

Here's one of my faves, noe even near Puns best, but in a rush so here goes.

Artist: Big Punisher f/ Black Thought
Album: Capital Punishment
Song: Super Lyrical
Verse: 1st Verse

PUNISHER --
Ay-yo my murderous rap verbal attack is actual fact
Tactical tracks match perfectly with graphical stats
Half a you lack the magical dap of tragical rap

That tackles you back and shackles and laughs at you
That's...the mathematical madness I'm on, the savage, the strong
The marriage, a bond of havoc and song

This massacre's on as if Picasso laced you
There's lotsa hateful skeletons locked
in the closet of my castle of Grayskull
I'm possum at grade school, that's why I have to debate you
My raps are like Capel, slashin' your face, you
That's how a master degrades you
I'm battlin' Jesus (hay-soos) if he passes through my label
I'm snatchin' his halo
God I pray that you send my father back as an angel
Language is fatal and it's hypnotizin'
I'm only emphasizin', I'm still all about business and enterprisin'
I'm super lyrical, a brain boosts the chemicals
That's used contenicals inside of my mental projectable

Artist: Method man & Red man
Album: Blackout!
Song: Da Rockwilder
Verse: 1st Verse

METHOD MAN
Microphone checka, swingin sword lecture
closin down the sectar supreme neck protector
Betta warn em kid Mr. Metha warmin pot
about to blow his lid from the pressure, too hot for TV
but cheesy, Too many wanna be hard be easy, is all in together
going all not together it don't take much to please me
Still homes are never satisfy like the stones
we don't condome bitin in the sellin crossbones
protectin what am writin don't clash with the Titan
who blast with a liscence to kill rap presitence
C'mon, in the zone with ya nigga from the Group Home
TICAL!!(Fuck your lifestyle!!) (Blew wind)...put your lights out
got the shit the crackin got you fienin with your pipes out
time for some action, surfin the avenue
mad at you, where I used to battle crews
back when Antoinette had that attitude
Cover me I'm going in, walls closin in

armed with the mega bomb
Blow you out the frame and I'm gone.

the whole song is crazy. red's verse is as great as meth's
"Hard hearted beast with a jaw full of meat
Engulfed in a feast while you starve at his feet
He toss you the least little portion of a piece
To the floor and expect you to rejoice when you eat" - Brother Ali

Artist: Tupac
Album: Me Against The World
Song: If I Die Tonight
Verse: 2nd Verse

Polishin pistols prepare for battle pass the pump
When I get to poppin niggaz is droppin then they done
Callin the coroner come collect the fuckin corpse
He got it by killer, preoccuppied with bein boss
Revenge is the method, whenever steppin keep a weapon close
Adversaries are overdosed over deadly notes
Jealous niggaz and broke bitches equal packed jails
Hit the block and fill your pockets makin crack sales
Picture perfection pursuin paper with a passion
Visions of prisons for all the pussies that I blasted
Runnin with criminals individuals with no remorse
Try to stop me my pistol posse's usin deadly force
In my brain all I can think about is fame
The police know my name, a different game, ain't a thing changed
I'm seein cemetary photos of my peers
Conversatin like they still here, if I die tonight

the underlined lines show beautiful alliteration. the bolded shows beautiful assonance. those two features make this verse, as well as the whole song, very poetic-like and the reason i love this song.

Yeah, Pac was a pretty prolific pupil of perfect alliteration, plus passionate but patient when printing purple paint on paper, then performing popular passages and portraying the personification of poetic. :p

Artist: Canibus
Album: Mic Club: The Curriculum
Song: Dr. C Phd

Yo, I plan to build a myself a facility before I'm 40
a molecular archceogenetic laboratory
that can analyze complex poetry data for me
even if it was recorded poorly, how extraordinary
I frog leap over awful beats
then I separate rappers by the carbon-14s
to determine the age of anything ever made
regardless of how the outside surface has changed
I put a curse on your name, bombard your brain
with gamma x-rays till you burst into flames
with the scientifically quantifiable megalomaniacal
viable style, it's like trying to ride a bull
let's have a dictionary duel after school
check into me a nice Cedar Sinai room
so I can get sick as the flu, spittin the truth
if you ain't got this album, you missing the proof
prepare for your doom my nuclear rocket plumes
glow against the pale background of the moon
toxic fumes spoil complete stocks of fruits, and foods
burning your flammable boxes and booms
got in the groove even though I'm not in the mood
motherfucker you didn't win 'cause I can't lose
give the fans the chance to choose, fuck you
who's the illest, who's it really up to
rapping fire, you better run for the pacifier
tie you up and drown you in the saliva quagmire
till your oxygen expires and your lungs dry up
'cause you said Bis ain't dope, you a damn liar
disaster for hire over beats by pious
flow like the Tigris, Euphrates, with the Eye of the Tiger
in my iris, Canibus is a fighter
motherfucker, my greatgrandfather was Irish
let's roll the dices, 'll break you like young Tyson
give me the mic man, I don't need no hype man
put a thousand on me, put one on him
i tear off his limbs, throw him in, and tell him to swim
yo I soak that shit and coat that shit in soy sauce
tell the FCC boss, turn that noise off
call Detroit's Mafia Boss
tell him yo, I got a job for you, I want you to bust his balls
Drop him off by Niagra Falls
write my name on a banana and put the banana between his jaws
nobody disrespects lyrical law
I'm the best there ever is and the best ever was
training like a grunt face down in the mud
with blood, sweat, and tears, sucking it up
yo, you wonder where I am right now
I'm probably somewhere on the microphone fucking it up
dead or alive, Canibus will live through the rhyme
to be the illest on the mic is a mission of mine
spittin' divine, you can't get it twisted this time
vocal with a mirror to make sure my lips are aligned
Dr C, PHD graduated from UMG
bright as the LCD display on a new MP
prototype of a true MC
with 3d topography maps you can't see
Butcher on Broad Street, wrapping CDs
in butcher paper, doing artwork with Sharpies
if you don't like the quality, then talk to me
what the fuck you on the website for you creep?
punching the keys, remember that sound
that's exactly what it sounds like when i'm punching your teeth
kick a rap, bitch, if you've got the gumption to speak
stand next to me, i might put a lump in your meat
diss you and your man, double the beef
to tell you the truth, I thought your rebuttal was weak
round the outside, blah, blah, etcetra, etcetra
the body of my literature is bigger than South America
nigga look, this is all I gots to say
suck my P-H-D-I-C-K
