Female MC's

Postby Renee7931 » Nov 12th, '09, 20:50

Not sure if this has been discussed, but what are your thoughts on female rappers? It's rare that someone lists one in their top 5/10. Is it that there haven't been any with the level of skill to stand out amongst their male counterparts? Other than Lil Kim you don't hear much talk about them. Thoughts?

My favorite female MC has always been MC Lyte. Remy Ma is okay, not a huge fan of Lil Kim. She's so raunchy sometimes I feel uncomfortable listening to her.

I don't really get down with much female MCs but I got put on to one chick whos album blew my fucking mind. Invincible, from Detroit, peep her album "Shapeshifters" some of the best stuff I've heard in awhile.

That said Jean Grae is dope too, and Lauryn Hill is a legend IMO.
