They are, because they didn't put out enough music alive, same shit if em died after TES or mmlp, or nas after illmatic, or jay after reasonable doubt. They got a lot more fame after they died than they had alive

So much. Never enjoyed them too much and found them to be two of the most overrated ever. I just felt people would have never been into them as much if they hadn't died.

O i should add, the whole fact that it became "cool" to always talk pac and big and whatever kinda fucked it up for everyone when all of rap started that

Biggie is overrated (but still amazing), but 2Pac was legitimately the shit.

It depends on how you look at it. Some say they are, some say they aren't. Not much to say.
Emadyville wrote:They are, because they didn't put out enough music alive, same shit if em died after TES or mmlp, or nas after illmatic, or jay after reasonable doubt. They got a lot more fame after they died than they had alive

You want them to put out more music and have a chance at putting out a whack album? Like Encore for Eminem? Like Nastradamus for Nas? Like The Blueprint 2 for Jay-Z? :n:

Also, they had as much fame alive as dead. They died beefing the first East-West feud ever in hip hop, with many rappers getting involved. It was highly publicized. The streets knew Biggie already had a classic in his belt and 2Pac got mad respect from the West for his first several albums, especially his third.
Solace wrote:No shit they are. I really dont need to explain.

Would be nice to explain. :)
Cube23 wrote:So much. Never enjoyed them too much and found them to be two of the most overrated ever. I just felt people would have never been into them as much if they hadn't died.

Everyone always say their death elevated them. Perhaps it has. Perhaps it hasn't. But as you read my response to Emadyville's comment, also note that Big L was a street legend before he even died for his punchlines and wordplay. Big Pun also dropped a gem before he died and was well-known.

So all this bullshit of their deaths helping them is mostly bullshit. Maybe it helped a bit, but who the fuck cares? They're still better than most of the rap out. :b:

Word-ish. I hate it when people try to bring Pac and Big in a conversation to try to prove their knowledge of hip hop. Seriously, when I see those people, I just know they don't know half as much as they try to show. :n:
westsidekreidy wrote:no! they're rated perfectly :)

Have you actually listened to any one of any of the two's albums from front to finish?

I'd say they are ALITTLE overrated, mostly because alot of people call them the best rappers ever. IMO Pac is pretty close to being the best, but not THE best (Nas and Rakim atleast beats him out). Basically the same with Biggie.

2Pac and Biggie are amongst my favorite rappers, no doubt they are good but yes, they are to some extent overrated. Usually people like to attack 2Pac with the "oh yeah he's overrated, Biggie is way better". I think Biggie is in many aspects better then him but that comment itself overrates Biggie as well so sometimes I even think that Biggie can be even more overrated. As it becomes a trend to call 2Pac overrated the whole time as well as hating on 50 Cent.

Became more famous after their deaths? Yes, a little. Well obviously, what can you expect... Anyway both rappers were at their prime before their deaths. 2Pac had a 5x Platinum albums under his belt and a 1995 classic. Biggie with a classic album which didn't even make it number 1 but reached Platinum took over Hip Hop to some extent. There was so much hype surrounding him.
