Soul On Ice

Postby AliJack » Jan 8th, '10, 14:08

I just listened to Ras Kass's Soul On Ice, and I can't understand how I don't hear people talkin about this album more often, if at all, because its an absolute classic. Amazing lyrics, Great beats, its dope as hell. Its in the leagues of Illmatic, The Infamous, Enter The Wu: 36 Chambers, but nobody gives it props for some reason. For anybody who ain't listen to it yet I suggest you go download it, and just let the magic flow.

Great album lyrically, but the production is sub par

Etc is probably my favorite track on their, his flow on that track is nuts!!

If you can get a physical copy of that album consider yourself blessed, its a collectors item

heres Diamond D's remix of the title track, he hould have reimxed the whole album :y: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imcQN8CF4Xw

Btw check out Wont Catch Me Runnin' and Riiiot with Chino Xl, killer tracks :b:
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

People always complain about Soul on Ice's production. Sure, it's weaker than most classics, but I find the instrumentals very fitting to the lyrical mood of the track in general. :b:

For example, Nature of the Threat's chiming bells are a perfect complement to the dark exploration of history behind the white man and our globe and it's just amazing. Lyrically and musically.

I remember checking this out several years ago. Dope album, of course. :y:
Yo, from the first to the last of it; delivery is passionate/
The whole and not the half of it; vocab and not the math of it/
Projectile that them blasted with; accurate assassin shit/
Me and Kweli close like... Bethlehem and Nazareth/
