Well yeah I definitely think there's a difference in appeal there.
Most people outside of fans of the writing process don't listen to people like Nas. I have friends who when I put that on they're just listening to the beat. They listen to the BEAT first.
Just bizarre to me. The beat is a by-product in rap for me. Sure it's part of the song and it matters but the lyrics, flow and delivery are the most important and that's what I'm listening at.
With Em, I feel he makes such catchy / infectious music and is so crystal clear with delivery and production that he appeals to both sides. That's why his fan base is as huge as it is. Because he has fans on the writers' side of things, genuine fans of lyricism and fans who just like beats and catchy music.
