LowKey, Akala, Black The Ripper, Rhyme Asylum, Stylah, The Narcicyst, Reveal, Double P... They all shit on 90% of American rappers. #Okbye.

Most of British chart music is now, not like back in the 60's or 70's. This should be in hip-hop domain or something though.

You're a retard.

Dizzee's skills (when he was still grime) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jay and Wayne's and shitloads of other 's.

In fact Rolling Stone even commented when they reviewed that album, saying it's staggering to release how many global American MCs have built entire careers on such mediocrity in comparison.

The UK just doesn't have as many and Hip-Hop isn't full-fledged here. Grime is really our contribution to it and that's still basically underground. Everything else which gets labelled UK hip-hop is usually a blend.

But the GOOD, and I mean REALLY GOOD UK MC's >>>> US MC's. Aside from the elite few. But on average, UK MC's are way further ahead, and due to Britain's obsession with humour, self-consciousness etc. this all seeps into the lyricism and it's more intelligent as a result.

Are you also forgetting that one of the main forces in hip-hop in the 80s - Slick Rick is British? He was one of the pioneers of storytelling, and humourous rap (like I said, UK are obsessed with it) - He was a massive influence on Eminem, Asher Roth and also B.o.B. Where the fuck do you think Bobby got the title / cover idea for his debut? It's a homage. Retard.

Without Slick Rick, a UK MC, Em probably wouldn't be the MC you know him as.

Our mainstream rap is rubbish I agree, but look at the grime scene for talented rappers - little known obviously due to being away from mainstream, but it has A LOT of people who can spit well. For those in America wondering what the hell Grime is, it's like "underground rap".

Slick Rick is the only influential MC from the UK....
America has:
2Pac, Nas, B.I.G., Wu-Tang, KRS-One, Rakim, Big L, and plenty others.....
SO WHAT NOW NIKKA???

^ You can't understand him because you're not used to his fucking accent.

I can understand what he's saying as I'm from Britain so it doesn't sound that way to me. Use your fucking head. Now, as for you saying you're just talking about ones dominating the charts... Well firstly Dizzee is doing that and has been doing that.

Secondly, Tinie Tempah etc. or whatever current cheesy fuck has a little grime / dance hit going isn't representative of the UK Hip-Hop or Grime scene.

As UK Hip-Hop... Welll as a genre, it doesn't really even exist. In reality UK Hip-Hop = Grime. So, in terms of Grime - That's still underground. That's why you only have 1 or 2 turds pop up now and then, have a hit then drop off the face of the Earth.

So you can't compare an underground genre in a country of 62 million with a fully-fledged commercial sledge-hammer of a genre which has been SOLIDLY established for well over 20 years in a country with 300 million. I mean how fucking retarded is that. Christ.

Why do you think you have so many fucking stars? Try the fact our version of hip-hop isn't even an established genre here yet whcih means... It's not being pushed as a mainstream offering, which means... No money is being put up for artists which means... Almost nobody gets siiiiiiigned.

Get it now? Plus, 62 million vs. 300 million... Yeah? There are plenty of brilliant grime artists which shit ten tons of rhino shit of Lil Wayne (and co.) corny fucking 'talent'. you just haven't heard of them and are so ignorant you think your opinion is worth something anyway.

BUT like the point has already been made here. Who the fuck owns rock? Despite the fact we have less than one third of your population, when rock became established, what happened? The British fucking ruled :) Already been mentioned. Brit rock dominated the fucking world despite the fact we're tiny in comparison. We have twice as much soul when we have the funds :)

First off, the '80s are completely irrelevant, because the OP isn't talking in past tense. I've only heard a few British rappers I could bear to listen to personally. Most British accents just don't work with the style.. at least in my mind. The ones who are good are great, though. To say on average UK rappers are better than US seems ridiculous to me, though. I've heard less than 5 British artists that I can even listen to, and even those only on occasion.

Also - Slick Rick lived in the US since he was 10 anyway.
