Big Boi Reveals Option For Two More Solo Albums

As the wait for another Outkast album continues, Big Boi says he has the option of two more Def Jam solo albums.

Big Boi and Andre 3000 haven't revealed too many details about another possible Outkast album, other than saying it is a plan after they both finish their solo projects. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Big Boi confirmed that statement, but also gave a bit more insight into the solo deal he signed earlier this year with Def Jam.

According to Gerrick D. Kennedy of the Times, Big Boi actually signed a three-album deal with Def Jam as a solo artist. After the release of an Outkast album, Big has plans to release the solo project, Daddy Fat Sacks: Soul Funk Crusader.

Both an Outkast album and a Big Boi solo effort would likely hit shelves faster than the critically acclaimed, Sir Lucious Left Foot: Son of Chico Dusty, due to less label politics.

"[It took] 40 months, but I could have been done in a year and a half, two years, Big Boi told the Times. "Outkast is signed to Jive Records. The type of music that we make, they don’t really understand. They were telling me the songs were too artsy and too different.”

In the meantime, Sir Lucious Left Foot continues to enjoy commercial and critical success. The album has been on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop chart for 11 consecutive weeks after debuting as the number three album in the country with first-week sales of roughly 62,000 units. In the meantime, Big Boi has announced a tour in support of the album. The full interview, including Big Boi's take on the Outkast's early days, and how Kate Bush influenced his sound can be found on the Los Angeles Times Web site.

Nice, I like the work-ethic.

I love seeing artists that I admire continuously trying to push themselves.

So it's gone Big Boi, next Andre then an Outkast album. Then another Big Boi album.

They're so consistent.
