Recovery has sold 3,943,000 copies in the Unites States as of last week. Curtain Call: The Hits & The Marshall Mathers LP are still doing pretty good as they're still on the Billboard 200 & they haven't dropped out of the top 200 for quite a few moths now. And taking the sales of the other albums into consideration, Eminem is probably pretty damn close to that 40 million mark or has already surpassed the landmark.

Around 32 million.

His albums have been certified to 38x platinum all together but this includes 2 double albums: All Eyez on Me & Greatest Hits, which are certified Diamond & 9x platinum but have both sold 5 million. Because they are double albums they get certified double.
