Even worse than I thought but waiting for Billboard's numbers tomorrow...

MMLP2 really needs a convincing single soon else the sales will stall faster than any of us here are expecting. Em doesn't typically promote actively beyond the second single though so I wonder how they're gonna handle that. Can't imagine that Interscope would be happy with numbers lower than Relapse.

His still in the top 4 after 2 months on the chart. You gotta respect the charting position as sales for music as a whole are terrible. It doesn't matter about a new single or anything. This is probably the same as 100k a few years ago. Times change.

It won't be lower than Relapse. Relapse plus Refill combined used 4 and a half years to get to 2.33 million. You guys do know that chart-building is a long process with the numbers fluctuate on its way. Don't be panic at a sales drop, and don't be over-excited at a sales increase, both of them natural for an acumulating process. Look at Curtain Call's sales figure and position, it experienced a second resurge during 2010 till nowadays...but nobody expected this to happen when it first released. The same goes to Eminem Show, a sales resurge came in June. 2013, and 5 months on BB200...so don't assume things when it's still early to tell. He is still 4 after Christmas, so relatively safe for stabilizing for another 2 months. After that though, I do agree with you, they perhaps could consider releasing a POWERFUL single.

I think since Nate Ruess is performing at this year's grammys, it would be pretty smart to release Headlights as a single and perform it.. but that's not gonna happen.

Yeah 50's are vital for the longevity of the albums & were even more than that for TSSLP 'cuz it started way slower than all the rest. Recovery had some incredible run of 50's as well.

Katy Perry has relatively good selling powers
People mistake her for single-artist, but not necessarily.
Her last album opened with only 190k yet ended up over 2.8 million now and it's still charting
In 2 years(at most) that album will be 3 platinum.
But back to your question, last week, her PRISM's standard version got discounted on itunes, hence the surge for her digital sale.
Besides, their sales have been close to each other since the week after Black Friday, so it's quite understandable
