Discount in both Target & Best Buy
and a No.1 single in the U.S.
in comparison with Eminem.....(a free-falling single no promo no hype..discount in Target)
What do you expect? :D

you make a strong point, especially with it at #10. I'm nervous tbh, I mean a #1 single for 4 or 5 weeks it was and now this...kinda scary. Barely reaching 2 million, as a hardcore em fan this is tough to take.

Monster could only drag Eminem instead of increase sale....I nearly walked away from being an Em fan when it first released and as far as I could see I am not the only one who thinks about quiting after hearing Monster. Still I think it's good to let it freefall, Em needs to learn the lesson. You see the album-pushing singles are Lorde's and Imagine Dragon's multi-platinum hits, and none of them are really popish. Although Macklemore and Robin Thick and Miley Cyrus have hits too, they don't convert to album sales either. So that's why I always hope they be more creative, if not, at least be more genuine.

I agree 100% on this

imo Rap God did more in pushing album sales than the monster

Agreed because it HAD TO OF...that is such a monster (excuse the reference) in terms of a rap song in general. I cannot get over how sick that song is. He made, I think, one of the best rap songs ever, and what I mean by that is, if you were teaching a class on how to be sick at rapping, that song has everything.

Hope it stays above 20k, but who knows maybe if the album keeps doing worse it will force eminem to get off his butt and do some promotion.

No not really, you know he doesn't care and especially at this point of his career.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Hopefully it'll keep pushing 20's at least until the next single drops... if that's the case it's hit 2xPlat in March. I hope sales are gonna go a bit up after mid February though.

Encore sold 710,000 in three days. Dropped at the height (if albeit a little bit late) of Eminem's popular. Album was a beast in the sales but obviously didn't have the staying power of his two previous efforts.

It's a shame tbh

yeah back then it was nuts. I lived through those day, was about 16 at the time. I walked 30 something blocks through new york on a field trip just to buy the vinyl of encore at the virgin records in times square. Good times. too bad at the time i was blinded for my love for em to realize that album was mostly garbage.

^ No i wouldn't say that. It was just, he was so sick for the first 3 and all the features and other songs I heard that I just thought this is good. Because it was em it HAD to be good. But in time I realized it wasn't. Regardless, Im still as big an em fan as I was back then if not bigger. I still think his new album, including the bonus tracks is a damn near classic in terms of his other albums. I actually think its my second favorite behind TES

Nice, glad to see older fans enjoying MMLP2 that much. What's your opinion on the whole Relapse-Recovery debate (which we probably won't agree on going off the rest of the forum) and just that time period in general?

Honestly, at the time recovery over relapse. But now, I think i'd rather listen to relapse. I'm not a fan of the accents, yet on some songs they worked. If I were to include refill I'd say relapse no doubt. Honestly can't remember the last time I listened to either. But that era was very interesting in terms of eminems career when you take into account his comeback with relapse, then recovery which was so different, but at the same time you had accents vs yelling.

His features during recovery I enjoyed, that I will say. Especially since there was an abundance of them. tbh right now I'm still bumping mmlp2 and the bonus disc non stop. It's off to bed for me though, I hope to further this discussion or others very soon. I enjoyed talking to you tonight in this thread and the nfl thread. Goodnight to you :y:
