"I even forgot he dropped an album."

"Shit was terrible"
"Wow I listened to this album one time and deleted it off my phone"
"The album is garbage"
"That shit was terrible faux goat."
"decent album with zero replay value"
"Wack album"

This is one of the biggest hip hop forums on the internet and now someone try to tell me it's not a trend to hate on Eminem these days. If it's not classic or whatever fine, but I fully stand by the fact that nothing he puts out now will be universally embraced by "public" opinion. People refer to this site as one of the most credible/worthwhile hip hop communities.

Ignore them
But from my point of view, perhaps some of their criticism hold truth. The commercial performance of this album is not that good. Not bad but certainly not that good. He needs to listen to criticism to improve. Blind shading aside, I do think criticism serves him better than universal acclaim.

altho recovery got a lot more recognition and awards ( i know he'll be in the grammys for this album next year) and then he came out with the mmlp2. just saying, this album is amazing and he did it after the highly successful and less album of recovery.

The link
music.yahoo.com/blogs/music-news/chart-watch-frozen-place-1-193233473.html
3/29 Billboard charts:

Eminem's "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" dips from #19 to #20 in its 19th week. The album tops the 2 million mark in U.S. sales this week. It's Eminem's eighth consecutive album to top the 2 million mark.

That's his entire output, which consists of seven studio albums and his 2004 hits compilation, "Curtain Call: Greatest Hits." Eminem's best-selling album is his 2000 blockbuster, "The Marshall Mathers LP" (10,834,000). His poorest-selling album (excluding the current release, which is far from over) is 2009's "Relapse" (2,363,000).

I think you're missing the point I was making. Just like how the reaction of people towards let's say...a new Nas album is great even if that person never even really listened to it, the initial reaction to an Em album (other than people that have been Em fans) is that it's "trash", "garbage", "terrible" and "wack" even if they never even took the time to listen to it. I don't care what anyone says, among self-proclaimed "hip hop heads" on the internet, it's not "cool" to love Em.

This is so true.

i wonder why? my only assumption is that he is 41 now. and his content, while back when i started listening 14 years ago related to shit i saw everyday (making fun of pop stars and bill clinton for example) made sense cause it was what was going on. with this album i dont feel it marks a period of time like his others did, not as easy to relate to. but who knows
