2013 CW Tag-Team Tournament (OFFICIAL)

Cover means u do a different version of that song. Whats I was questioning is beat choice, that would be up to whatever song you choose. So beat choice is kinda a weird category

Not sure how its stressing mainstream...

Its just either redundant or pointless.
It'll come down to if you like the beat of the original track
But if you do a successful cover, you should follow the beat the same as the original writer

So beat choice IS the cover a song category

Sorry for the confusion.

This round, you take a "known" rap instrumental (like, a released beat off a CD or some shit. Doesn't have to be mainstream) and write a verse over it. Doesn't have to have the same concept/theme as the original song, make it your own, but just use an existing official beat (for example "Soldier" by Eminem, or a Hov instrumental, no1curr).

And for the "Choice of Beat" point, it stays. It's part of the round, and I made it only 1 point instead of 3-5 like the normal essence of the round category because of the sensitive subjective nature. Which means you need to choose a beat that's fucking awesome lol

OK so just do a re-imagining of a known song, with that beat.

I agree with Geno.

Otherwise it's just a freestyle - unless that's what you wanted Eedee.
I'm not tryin to be rude, but I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth

OK a cover is doing the same lyrics and beat, just diff person.

So he misused 'cover.' But yes its just emulation over the beat of the song youre doing.
But it doesn't have to be as close as fiasco emulation.
Can change the topic, can switch schemes a bit.

But keep it within reason to the original, and the same beat

Is what I gather

I feel like a retard now. What I originally planned was a whole new creative writing verse, just writing to an official instrumental. Not keeping the same rhyme schemes or whatever.

But as I did say.... be as creative as you want, just use an official instrumental. I don't care what you write about/rhyme schemes you use/bla bla bla, just use an official instrumental!

That's literally nothing different than the last round. What if we wrote to an official instrumental last round? It'd be the same thing lol.

How about this? In my personal opinion, I think it'd make for a way more intense finale. We don't want to just write another random verse. At least with this, it'll be a challenge, as a final round should be. It should portray who's the most skilled duo, and how well they are at creatively writing a rap verse.

Round 3: 32 Bars. Emulate / Parody a song. Pick a fairly well known song and change the lyrics to a verse of your choice. Be as creative as possible and wow the judges.

[5] Creativity
[3] Coherency (do the new words / rhymes make sense? Is the story coherent? Do they stay on topic?)
[3] Chemistry
[3] Comparative Rhymes (how well do the new rhymes line up with the original rhymes?)
[2] Complexity
[1] Flow
[1] Wow Factor (Who's verse wowed you the most?)

I think this would be more fun. I don't understand how solely writing aimlessly on a known beat would be a good finale.

I want to see this.
