On the real, nobody is going to post the answer. It's unique to yourself bro. I like to take a break and ease back into it later on when I feel like I have something to write about again.

I take breaks from writing for weeks, even months at a time sometimes.

I haven't released a song in over a year due to trying to master my craft before doing so.


In all honesty, all you can do is take a break. Even when I thought I'd quit, I always came back to it. If writing / making music is something you love (which I do.. it's also my main form of therapy) you will always come back to it.

My main problem is that I had some really bad events happen last year so I sort of built a figurative wall around myself and made myself stop caring about anyone so that it wouldn't happen again but now that I don't care about anymore I don't know what to write about

It's a process of opening up your mind and allowing yourself to feel that emotion then express it in writing. Not to sound like some hippie or something, lol.. but it's really a process of gathering inspiration from events / places / people / surroundings, etc. that you normally wouldn't think about.

I've been in the same rut before, like I said, and I've stopped writing for months.. it takes a long time to change mindsets and teach yourself to find inspiration within different environments.

Yeah, no problem dude..

Just a tip, that works for anyone, really.. I like to write stories (in song form, of course) about what I saw / did on any given day. Except I don't write it bland, I exaggerate a lot of stuff and stretch it out.

I don't release the stories as any form of written material, but it does help to jog your mind to be more creative in the way you view the world.

I've had tons of good ideas for stories that I've never made into real songs...I just need to get away from writing about my own life and punches...open my mind as you said

But nah, when I write, I usually don't start with a concept. I let the words write for me. Like, I'll hear a cool-sounding word combo I really want to rhyme with and work from there. I'll just write BS flex verses until I hit something I wanna actually say.
