What would you do in my situation?

What would you do in my situation?

Postby RainMan44 » Nov 5th, '11, 09:30

So, I had some guy I know spit a verse on a track with me that will go on my album, and this guy is a doper rapper than me. We murdered it, and it's going to go on my album.

He then sent me a beat with a verse of his on it, and told me if I could lay a verse on it for HIS album.

Now, I DEFINITELY want to return the favor. I am even eventually planning on asking him for a collab album.

Problem is, I have been suffering from writer's block for quite a while now. BUT TODAY, I finally wrote a verse that I think will lead to another great song for my album, and with this my album feels complete.

But this verse ALSO fits that track he sent me for his album VERY well.

What should I do?

Lay it on his track, or extend it to 3 verses and keep it on my album?

WILL IT BE OKAY to lay the verse on his track, but still use it as a verse for one of my albums' songs?
"This dude doing this interview wants me to spin a few,
Lyrics while I tie my tennis shoes in the nude
A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

I'd go for the guest verse. That way more people will get to hear you.

@Blu, why not?

And @Slim, I was kind of leaning towards that, too. I'll try and see if I can manage squeezing it into my album, as well.

people always want to hear something new, and, it would help you & your writing skills to write a whole new verse.
